Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Traversing from a given point to another while avoiding collision with obstacles is one of the key goals of path planning for robots [1]. Doing so in the most optimal way - the minimum total distance traveled by the robot is the objective of our study [2,3]. To do so, the algorithms implemented on the robots need to constantly map the environment or workspace in real time and subsequently create paths for the traversal in the environment without colliding with objects or obstacles [4,5]. Throughout the years, many researchers have conducted their own studies, researches and have proposed approaches for …

Differential Gene Expression Analysis Of Mice Thymi After Spaceflight, Roshani Codipilly

Master's Projects

With increases in space travel and a desire to inhabit the moon and Mars comes a pressing need to understand the impact of spaceflight on the body. Some effects are already known, such as reduced cardiac function and bone loss, but one area that needs to be further explored is the immune system. Differential gene expression analysis of mice thymi was performed to determine the impact of spaceflight on the immune system. The dataset that was analyzed, GLDS-289, was obtained from GeneLab, a space-omics database developed by NASA. Differential gene expression analysis was accomplished using a Nextflow implementation of GeneLab’s …

Clickbait Detection In Youtube Videos, Ruchira Gothankar May 2021

Clickbait Detection In Youtube Videos, Ruchira Gothankar

Master's Projects

YouTube videos often include captivating descriptions and intriguing thumbnails designed to increase the number of views, and thereby increase the revenue for the person who posted the video. This creates an incentive for people to post clickbait videos, in which the content might deviate significantly from the title, description, or thumbnail. In effect, users are tricked into clicking on clickbait videos. In this research, we consider the challenging problem of detecting clickbait YouTube videos. We experiment with logistic regression, random forests, and multilayer perceptrons, based on a variety of textual features. We obtain a maximum accuracy in excess of 94%.
