The study aims to examine the nexus between reward system and service delivery of librarians in federal universities in Southwest Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was adopted for this study and the population consisted of 120 librarians in six federal universities in Southwest Nigeria. The total enumeration technique was adopted in the study. Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts, simple percentages, mean and standard deviation while inferential statistics of Pearson’s Moment Product Correlation and regression were used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings showed that …

“Purpose of education is to moralise and socialise the people,” said Dr B. R. Ambedkar. The role of education in the holistic development of a society is immeasurable because good education shapes people right from their childhood and thus the entire society. That’s why every developed civilisation had given keen importance to education in any form. The way people get educated is a reflection of the culture of that period. It has travelled through rock carvings, manuscripts, papers and today it has reached our smartphones due to the Covid’19 Pandemic situation. So, the researcher attempted to study the College Students …

The ability to rapidly detect and respond to wildlife morbidity and mortality events is critical for reducing threats to wildlife populations. Surveillance systems that use pre-diagnostic clinical data can contribute to the early detection of wildlife morbidities caused by a multitude of threats, including disease and anthropogenic disturbances. Here, we demonstrate proof of concept for use of a wildlife disease surveillance system, the 'Wildlife Morbidity and Mortality Event Alert System', that integrates pre-diagnostic clinical data in near real-time from a network of wildlife rehabilitation organizations, for early and enhanced detection of unusual wildlife morbidity and mortality events. The system classifies …

Using Silicon-Vacancy Centers In Diamond To Probe The Full Strain Tensor, Kelsey M. Bates, Matthew W. Day, Christopher L. Smallwood, Rachel C. Owen, Tim Schröder, Edward Bielejec, Ronald Ulbricht, Steven T. Cundiff
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
An ensemble of silicon vacancy (SiV−) centers in diamond is probed using two-pulse correlation spectroscopy and multidimensional coherent spectroscopy. Two main distinct families of SiV− centers are identified, and these families are paired with two orientation groups by comparing spectra from different linear polarizations of the incident laser. By tracking the peak centers in the measured spectra, the full diamond strain tensor is calculated local to the laser spot. Measurements are made at multiple points on the sample surface, and variations in the strain tensor are observed.

Do you have issues quantifying the success of your scholarly communication programs? Many CSUs not only struggle with how to properly fund and staff scholarly communication programs, but also how to show their value. Sacramento State and San Jose State received an IMLS National Forum grant in 2019 to determine how similar public institutions were assessing their scholarly communication programs. In our multi-phased grant project, we used the University of Central Florida’s Research Lifecycle (https://library.ucf.edu/about/departments/scholarly-communication/overview-research-lifecycle/ ) as a framing document for all the multi-faceted services that scholarly communication encompasses. Within this presentation, we will share an assessment rubric created to …

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Understanding the temperature dependence of how ferroelectric materials respond to electric fields is critical for determining how best to use these materials in applications. Here, temperature dependent in situ x-ray diffraction is used to study how field-response mechanism Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-x(Ba0.7Ca0.3)TiO3 evolves with temperature. Increasing the measurement temperature was found to slightly reduce the extent of domain reversal and the magnitude of the 111 lattice strain. Instead, these results indicate that temperature predominantly impacted the angular dependence of the 002/200 lattice strain. We attribute the observed differences in 002/200 lattice strain to the flattening of the free-energy near the tetragonal-orthorhombic phase boundary, …
