The efficacious intellectual dimensions of Kashmir are under unremitting risk because of the present conditions under which Kashmir is suffering. An immediate need to manage the intellectual resources is felt in order to turn them to elements of excellence. The paper is based on the personal experiences of the authors. The situation in Kashmir led the authors to highlight the problems faced by academia in Kashmir. The study provides curative measures to manage the academic circle of a devastated and war ravaged Kashmir. When military service members separate from the military, many return to their families of origin, living with their parents for a period of several weeks to years. While research with veterans and their spouses has documented the particular strain of this reintegration period on veterans and their partners, little research to date has examined veterans’ experiences living with their parents. The present study sought to fill this research gap by investigating veterans’ experiences living with their parents using qualitative, in-depth interviews with Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in California. Carnage Interrupted: An Analysis Of Fifteen Terrorist Plots Against Public Surface Transportation, Research Report 11-20, Brian M. Jenkins, Joseph Trella

This report examines 13 terrorist plots against public surface transportation that were uncovered and foiled by authorities between 1997 and 2010 and two failed attempts to carry out attacks. Certainly, this is not the total universe of foiled or failed terrorist plots in these years, but they were selected on the basis of what is known about them and the accessibility of information. The report focuses on terrorist plots in the West. Seven of the 15 plots took place in the United States, and four occurred in the United Kingdom. Mood Management And Video-Game Engagement: The Importance Of User-Experience And Gender In Assessing The Psychological Effects Of Video-Game Play, Crystine Serrone

The overall purpose of this thesis was to investigate the psychological effects of video-game play. The two central goals were to (a) compare and contrast three classic media theories (Mood Management Theory, The Catharsis Hypothesis, and Excitation-Transfer Theory) as they apply to the effects of video-game play, and (b) investigate the importance of user-experience variables and gender in predicting psychological outcomes of play. In a two-group mixed experimental design, all participants underwent a frustration/stress mood-induction procedure before playing a violent or nonviolent video-game. Asahi Shimbun And The New York Times: Framing Pearl Harbor And The 9/11 Attacks, Maiko Kunii

The researcher analyzed visual frames in the photo coverage in the New York Times and the Japanese newspaper, Asahi Shimbun, following the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941 and the 9/11 attacks in 2001. In 1941-1942, although the humanization set of frames was the dominant frame in the New York Times, the set of military frames was dominant in Asahi Shimbun. The New York Times emphasized American civilians as well as the American and U.S. allied soldiers' involvement in the war. In contrast, photos in Asahi Shimbun portrayed the patriotism of the Japanese military and the international human dimension in Asia. …

On April 13, 2011 Jonathan Roth spoke in the University Scholar Series hosted by Provost Gerry Selter at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Jonathan Roth is a Professor in the History Department at SJSU. In this seminar, he examines the evolution of Roman war over its thousand-year history. He highlights the changing arms and equipment of the soldiers, unit organization and command structure, and the wars and battles of each era.
