Citation Rates For Ohio State Graduate Theses & Dissertations: Trends, Surprises, And Inaccuracies, Daniel S. Dotson

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The Ohio State University’s holdings of graduate theses and dissertations were examined to determine if highly-downloaded titles tended to be highly-cited. The study found that citation rates were highly variable and did not necessarily correspond to download rates. This included very highly downloaded titles with low citation rates, and lesser-downloaded titles with high citation rates. The study found that Google Scholar, which was used to identify citation rates, too often counts theses and dissertations as a version of a different work with the same title, even if it is another format and sometimes with additional authors. Abstract

This study reported about information literacy among undergraduates in Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria. Six research questions guided the study. Survey method was used for the study. 150 copies of questionnaire were administered to the respondents but 147 copies were filled and returned. Analysis was done using simple statistical tools of frequency counts, percentage and bar chart. This research work took a critical look at the information environment of Theatre and Media Arts Students of Federal University of Oye-Ekiti Ekit State. The study adopted was descriptive survey. The population was drawn from the undergraduate of Theatre and Media Arts with a population of 200. The study used the whole population as its sample size. This thesis researches the ballet de cour spectacles of the seventeenth century French court, with a careful examination of the political and social importance of such spectacles in anticipation of reconstructing Louis XIV’s Ballet de la Nuit (Ballet of the Night), originally performed February 23, 1653 at the Louvre’s Salle de Petit Bourbon. This ballet de cour was a visual spectacle that combined music, dance, poetry, and allegory with elaborate staging and costumes. This paper gives national and international perspectives of librarianship and examined the repositioning of libraries in Nigeria’s educational system to make them competitive in line with global best practices. Library leadership, training and curriculum content for professionalism and funding were looked at as devices for competitiveness vis-à-vis international university standards. Recommendations were made for leadership training and review of library school curriculums to reflect new trends in librarianship as well as promotion of reading culture, among others, for global competitiveness.
