Therapeutic Listening Communication In Children With Autism And Hyperacusis, Jennifer Margaret Hughes

Hyperacusis, or auditory hypersensitivity, is defined as abnormally sensitive hearing and in some cases an extreme sensitivity, where normally tolerated sounds are perceived as excessively, even painfully loud. This is a debilitating condition for children with autism, causing activity limitations and participation restrictions, also leading to peer isolation and habitual sound avoidance behaviors.

This research explores a means of modifying the auditory environment of a child with hyperacusis in a safe, effective way for the purpose of improving attention span and facilitating learning. The paper discusses digital nervous system as a strategy for enhanced information service delivery in federal university libraries in South-East Nigeria. The study was guided by four research questions in line with the objectives of the study. The design adopted for this study is a descriptive survey research design and the population consists of Librarians from academic libraries in Nigeria. Through the process of review, it aims to highlight the antiquity of palm leaf manuscripts, the process of seasoning and writing over the leaves, the physical, chemical and biological factors of deterioration, the classification and cataloguing process of manuscripts, different traditional / modern methods of preservation and conservation as well as the viability and prospects of digital preservation of manuscripts and the attempts taken by various manuscript libraries for digitization.

This study highlights the publication analysis in nanotechnology research outputs in global level as identified the data in Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection database, Thomson Reuters, Philadelphia, USA. It is found that a total output of worldwide scholarly communications in the field of nanotechnology is 20825 during the period between 1989 and 2014. The maximum numbers of outputs of 7269 records (34.91 %) were published by USA which is placed in the first rank. The next position has got by China with 2121 research papers (=10.19%) and followed by Germany is in the third rank. The primary sources are …

Aim Enhanced management of areas important for marine biodiversity are now obligations under a range of international treaties. Tracking data provide unparalleled information on the distribution of marine taxa, but there are no agreed guidelines that ensure these data are used consistently to identify biodiversity hotspots and inform marine management decisions. Here, we develop methods to standardize the analysis of tracking data to identify sites of conservation importance at global and regional scales. Diabetes mellitus type 2 is an ever increasing threat to the health of people living in the United States, especially those of Hispanic ethnicity. This ethnic group is disproportionately afflicted with the chronic condition and is also more likely than non-Hispanic whites to suffer from serious complications of diabetes. This project examines this growing problem among Hispanics living in the Central Valley of California by exploring how best to structure diabetes self-management education in a network of community health centers.

In the United States, roughly 43% of adults have encountered alcoholism in their family, and one in four children lives with an alcoholic parent (Grant, 2000). Prior research suggests that alcoholism can negatively impact the nature and quality of family relations, but studies rarely consider the specific ways in which family communication dynamics are impacted by the disease. Thus, the goal of this study was to identify the characteristics of communication in families of alcoholics and to develop a larger conceptual model to guide future inquiries in this context. Examining The Satisfaction Levels Of Hospice And Palliative Care Nurses In Education, Clinical Confidence And Knowledge Of Self Care Practice, Monica Wooldridge

The purpose of this descriptive exploratory research study was to measure hospice and palliative care registered nurses self-reported information on end of life education and self- care practices including overall satisfaction with end of life education, self-rating of clinical confidence and knowledge of self-care practice. As no tool for measuring this was found in literature, this study included development of a new survey tool. Participants were solicited on a volunteer basis at end of life conferences and professional meetings for a period of ninety days. A total of 88 surveys were returned.
