It provides a logical order of subjects and subtopics from broad to narrow, which can be converted into a linear layout of library contents. With technological advancements, classification systems, as well as their notation, must develop. This study looks at the conventional properties of notation, the classificatory needs it must serve, and their prospective applications to classification notation in order to investigate the feasibility of employing color as classificatory notation.

This bibliometric study set out to evaluate and analyze highly cited papers in Library and Information Science field (LIS) in the Web of Science database from 1983 to 2018. In this bibliometric study, the required data were extracted from the Web of Science database. First, all documents under the rubric of LIS subject area, including 366,756 documents, were retrieved. The outcome parameters were the number of publications, citations, top countries, authors, organizations/institutions, and citation analysis, impact factor, most frequent author keywords were presented as visualization map, etc.
