A Critical Analysis Of Scientific Productivity Of The “Robotics” Research In India During 2009-2018, Nutan Gaud
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
This paper describes results of a scientometric study of “Robotics” research publications during the period of 10 years i.e. (2009-2018). The raw data was collected from leading citation database i.e. Scopus. The study examines and analysis various scientometrics parameter and after the analysis it has been found that the out of total 4325 research paper, the highest documents were published in 2018 i.e. 791 (18.29%) while the minimum 134 (3.1%) of research papers were found in the year 2009 and the annual growth rate of publications was in fluctuating trends. The maximum (1.23) relative growth rate was found in 2010; …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The goal of the library is to provide quality service and lifelong learning facilities to its users. However, there are indications of low level of effectiveness in many polytechnic libraries. Studies revealed that this could be attributed to leadership style. The study, therefore, investigated the extent to which leadership style influenced institutional effectiveness of polytechnic libraries in South-West, Nigeria.
The research adopted survey research design. The population consisted of 429 library personnel from the 32 polytechnic libraries in South-West, Nigeria. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 24 (75%) polytechnic libraries. Total enumeration was used for the 368 personnel …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The study aims to find out how far a school library can contribute in the issue of inclusion of the economically backward class students. Meanwhile the author has opined three major issues: Economical, Psychological and Societal as the reasons behind the school dropouts in India; while theoretical analyses have unveiled that the school library has enough scope and potential to reduce the dropout rate by offering several innovative approaches. Further, the author has investigated the reality and forwarded ten unique approaches (broadly classified into Library beyond school, Increase the reading habit and Empowerment of the student) which could …

Models Of Spiritual Leadership: Strategies For Bridging The Gap Between Policy And Ethics, Rebecca J. O'Brien
Models Of Spiritual Leadership: Strategies For Bridging The Gap Between Policy And Ethics, Rebecca J. O'Brien
Dissertations
Public institutions are finding that strict policies premised on value-free research are incapable of dealing with the social and ethical issues facing schools. Increasingly, research is identifying how spiritual practices can be a source of insight and guidance on ethical issues and other soft leadership skills. Spiritual and servant leadership is a burgeoning area of study in the business world and health care field, but it just beginning to be examined as a guiding tool in the education field. In the current study, I interview educational leaders who self-identify as having a spiritual practice and who are responsible for oversight …

Experiences Of Adolescent Refugee Students Who Attend Afterschool Programs For Literacy Support, Analiza Filion
Experiences Of Adolescent Refugee Students Who Attend Afterschool Programs For Literacy Support, Analiza Filion
Dissertations
Studies on the academic achievement of refugee students cite continuous underachievement in literacy skills. Due to trauma from fleeing their countries of origin, limited school experiences, and language barriers, refugee students struggle with demonstrating progress in academic achievement. Learning challenges continue to take place when classroom teachers are not equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources to support students with their unique learning needs. Through the use of a documentary research method, this dissertation investigated the experiences of five adolescent refugee students who attended afterschool programs as an additional resource for developing literacy skills. This study also explored how students perceived …
The Silicon Valley Approach To Poverty: Humanitarian Designers At Work In Financial Inclusion, Jeffrey Stephen Greger
The Silicon Valley Approach To Poverty: Humanitarian Designers At Work In Financial Inclusion, Jeffrey Stephen Greger
Master's Theses
This thesis explores the application of ethnographic research and commercially-derived design approaches in support of financial inclusion, a global movement to bring affordable financial services to low-income and rural communities that have traditionally lacked access to these services. I collaborated with and interviewed designers and anthropologists working on financial inclusion projects that range from small, grassroots efforts to create payday loan alternatives in Silicon Valley and London, to more formal international development projects funded by large corporations and philanthropic organizations. Participants in this study shared a strong belief: ethnographic perspectives and design practices that incorporate marginalized voices into the decision-making …
He's The Hero We Deserve: Batman As A Figure Of Dominant Masculinity, Karen Medrano
He's The Hero We Deserve: Batman As A Figure Of Dominant Masculinity, Karen Medrano
Master's Theses
For decades, comic books have been a prevalent media format through which cultural perceptions of masculinity are disseminated. Batman is an exemplary character who is expected to perform and behave in a manner that corresponds with social constructs of the American masculine identity: strong, dominant, and protective. These gendered traits, as represented through Batman’s body and relationships with various allies, are analyzed through the lens of R.W. Connell’s theory of dominant and subordinated masculinities (derived from her larger theory of hegemonic masculinity). As our cultural perception of masculinity has shifted, so has the visual representation of Batman over his eighty-year …
Mobility Through Droughts: Cross-Sectional Analysis Of Femora In A San Francisco Bay Area Prehistoric Native Population, Sarah M. Luce
Mobility Through Droughts: Cross-Sectional Analysis Of Femora In A San Francisco Bay Area Prehistoric Native Population, Sarah M. Luce
Master's Theses
This thesis aims to infer mobility patterns in the California prehistoric burial population of CA-ALA-329 (Ryan Mound) by conducting cross-sectional analysis on femoral bones. CA-ALA-329 is considered to be a burial ground used by precontact Ohlone natives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Glacial changes, pollen studies, and
tree-ring data show shifts in climate change occurred during the Late Phase 1 Period, causing warmer and drier temperatures throughout California. Seventy-seven femora were analyzed in this study including 26 femora representing the Middle Period and 51 representing the Late Phase 1 Period. Cross-sectional geometric formulae were applied to measurements collected at …

Most social networks of today are populated with several millions of active users, while the most popular of them accommodate way more than one billion. Analyzing such huge complex networks has become particularly demanding in computational terms. A task of paramount importance for understanding the structure of social networks as well as of many other real-world systems is to identify communities, that is, sets of nodes that are more densely connected to each other than to other nodes of the network. In this paper we propose two algorithms for community detection in networks, by employing the neighborhood overlap metric …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The purpose of this conceptual research is to determine the process of science formation and evolution. The method adopted in this study is based on the documentary analysis. The research community included texts and researches related to the field of "Science", "Research" and "Technology". The scientific documents were selected using a purposive sampling method for analysis. In this paper the three concepts of: science scope, science band, and science cycle are extracted from the findings of the reviewed materials for the first time ending in the following findings. Here the science scope consists of nine elements, the science band constitutes …

Addressing The Climate Change Consensus Gap Among Preservice Teachers: A Four-Faceted Approach, Grinell Smith, Colette Rabin
Addressing The Climate Change Consensus Gap Among Preservice Teachers: A Four-Faceted Approach, Grinell Smith, Colette Rabin
Faculty Publications
In this paper, we report an estimate of the magnitude of the “consensus gap” – the gap between what scientists know about climate change and what the general public thinks they know – about anthropomorphic climate change among K-8 pre-service teachers. We also report qualitative findings about the utility of a four-faceted approach to teaching about climate change designed explicitly to mitigate inductive reasoning errors and to reduce in-group favoritism, attribution bias, inter-group conflict, and confirmation bias. We found that learning about the scientific consensus spurred student exploration about climate change and the careful use of deliberation toward commonly-held positions …
