A Report On Cyberfeminism, Alex Galloway

A paper highlighting several books that explain theories of “cyberfeminism” by looking at works created by Sadie Plant, Sandy Stone and VNS Matrix. The author highlights written materials like Zeros and Ones (Sadie Plant, 1997) and The War of Desire and Technology (Sandy Stone, 1995) created by cyberfeminists to accredit the innovations of women in technological spaces. Though cyberfeminism has no concrete territory, an argument analyzed by the author entertains the idea that “technology is inherently feminine”, despite the male dominated industry of technology. The author also highlights Stone’s idea that female and queer-friendly bodies inhabit virtual spaces online which …

This article describes the gender roles in technology. It gains awareness in our society that only men seem to be involved in technology. But in fact, women had the same contribution to this area. For example, the report illustrates the role of women in a symposium called "Chi Tek '97" in San Jose, California. According to the article, "participants discussed various aspects of women artists working in/with technology, including whether women needed to have a gender-specific forum at all”. This means women had the same role as men did and more contributions in art and tech. To illustrate, Anne-Marie Schleiner …

Application Of Focused Ion Beam Technology In High Density Magnetic Recording Heads, Rasool Solaimanpour
Application Of Focused Ion Beam Technology In High Density Magnetic Recording Heads, Rasool Solaimanpour
Master's Projects
Track density requirements for magnetic recording heads used in the computer disk drives are becoming more and more stringent. In order to achieve higher recording densities at drive level, the head or the read/write element must be able to pack more tracks in a given area on the disk. As a result, the writer part of the head must be able to write narrower transitions. Until very recently, writer track widths have been defined at the wafer level. However, due to photolithography process limitations reached at the wafer level, other methods of track width control are being sought.
The objective …

To Implement And Assess The Viability Of Using Javabeans And Object Database In Building Scalable 3-Tier Client/Server Applications, Arathi Hattiangadi
Master's Projects
One of the most important criteria while building three-tier Client/Server applications is to make sure that they are scalable. They must not only support large number of users, but also support large databases. The selected database must support the application needs as the application environment grows.
The purpose of this project is to build a 3-Tier Client/Server application called “Bank Debit-Credit Benchmark Application” using an object database and components. and test it’s scalability and performance. The results are then be thoroughly analyzed to determine if the Object Database and Component technologies used in the application are a feasible solution for …
