Applying An Integrated Urban Model In The Evaluation Of Travel Demand Management Policies In The Sacramento Region: Year Two, Mti Report 01-08, Robert A. Johnston Sep 2001

Applying An Integrated Urban Model In The Evaluation Of Travel Demand Management Policies In The Sacramento Region: Year Two, Mti Report 01-08, Robert A. Johnston

Mineta Transportation Institute

In this study, the authors apply an integrated land use and transportation model, the Sacramento MEPLAN model, to evaluate transit investment alternatives combines with supportive land use policies and pricing policies in the Sacramento region. The current study builds upon the year-one study (Johnson et. al., 2000) in two important respects. First, the study employs a second version of the Sacramento MEPLAN model that explicitly represents floorspace consumption in the land use component of the model. Second, the transit, land use and pricing policies evaluated in the year-two project as expanded and refined in this study in response to the …

How Best To Serve Seniors On Existing Transit Services, Mti Report 01-04, David Koffman Sep 2001

How Best To Serve Seniors On Existing Transit Services, Mti Report 01-04, David Koffman

Mineta Transportation Institute

Increases in the size of the elderly population and changes in travel patterns are expected to create significant new mobility expectations. The research documented here is intended to provide tools for transit providers and public policy makers to make the greatest use of existing transit resources to serve mobility needs of the growing senior population. The research demonstrates how customer satisfaction surveys can be used to set priorities for improving existing fixed route services. The primary analysis technique used is the impact score technique. This method determines the relative impact of various improvements on overall customer satisfaction. It does this …

Applying An Integrated Model To The Evaluation Of Travel Demand Management Policies In The Sacramento Region, Mti Report 01-03, Robert A. Johnston

Mineta Transportation Institute

The Mineta Transportation Institute at San José State University conducted this study to review the issues and implications involved in the project in question. The primary objective of this study was to use an advanced integrated land use and transportation model to evaluate transit and supportive land use and pricing policies; the Sacramento MEPLAN model was used to simulate these policies. The model represents the effect of changes in the transportation system on land use. If the land use and transportation interaction is not represented, then the analysis of transit and highway alternatives may be biased. For example, if the …

The Development Of A Regional Gis, James J. Worthley Jun 2001

The Development Of A Regional Gis, James J. Worthley

Master's Projects

A critical element of competitive, market driven, companies are their Research and Development departments. As the client’s needs change, and as new technologies develop, R&D must adapt and use new technologies to stay competitive and to best meet the needs of their clients. Although government agencies are not in competition, per se. they should also stay abreast of, and make use of, new technological advances that can improve the way they do business. “The bottom line that any organization seeks through the development and adoption of a new system or other innovation is some measure of improvement, either in productivity, …

Ozone And Tracer Transport Variations In The Summer Northern Hemisphere Stratosphere, E. C. Cordero, S. R. Kawa Jun 2001

Ozone And Tracer Transport Variations In The Summer Northern Hemisphere Stratosphere, E. C. Cordero, S. R. Kawa

Faculty Publications, Meteorology and Climate Science

Constituent observations from the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) in combination with estimates of the residual circulation are used to examine the transport and chemical budgets of HF, CH4 and O3 in the summer Northern Hemisphere. Budget calculations of HF, CH4 and O3 show that the transport tendency due to the residual circulation increases in magnitude and is largely opposed by eddy motions through the summer months. Ozone budget analyses show that between 100 and 31 hPa, the magnitudes of the mean circulation and eddy transport terms increase through the summer months, producing tendencies that are …

Impact Of A Community Facilities District, Joseph T. Johnson May 2001

Impact Of A Community Facilities District, Joseph T. Johnson

Master's Projects

This study has been undertaken to increase our understanding of land use planning since the passage of the Mello-Roos Community Facility Act of 1982. This report will focus on unique concepts used to enhance current zoning laws and ways in which these tools have provided an alternative for developers and municipalities in the land use development process. It will also examine, the effects and dynamics these concepts have created in shaping a San Jose community. This report will discuss past and present land use concepts and their impacts on the past and future development projects. How these concepts dealt with …
