In past few years, smartphone use has shifted from professional access to personal need. Smartphone has now become an essential requirement to perform day to day activities. This has made smartphones unsecured and vulnerable to cyber threats and malware attacks. This study is also focused on finding intersection between malware attacks and Android OS considering Android as the most widely used mobile OS. A comprehensive search is conducted on Scopus Database for peer-reviewed articles. The study is carried out on bibliometric data of the considered articles to generate a highly useful concept map.

Artificial intelligence applications provide tremendous opportunities to improve human life and drive innovation. AI systems/applications which operate in a real-world environment have to encounter an infinite set of feasible scenarios. Conventional testing approach to test the AI application allows only limited testing and does not allow taking the different contexts into consideration and may lead to insufficient validation and characterization. Therefore, to ensure robustness, certainty and reliability of AI applications, the authors applied classification-based AI software testing framework and 3D decision tables to generate test cases. Moreover, the authors compared the quality assurance metrics (accuracy, correctness, reliability and consistency) of …

Migratory marine species cross political borders and enter the high seas, where the lack of an effective global management framework for biodiversity leaves them vulnerable to threats. Here, we combine 10,108 tracks from 5775 individual birds at 87 sites with data on breeding population sizes to estimate the relative year-round importance of national jurisdictions and high seas areas for 39 species of albatrosses and large petrels. Populations from every country made extensive use of the high seas, indicating the stake each country has in the management of biodiversity in international waters. We quantified the links among national populations of these …

Access Control is mentioned to as the imprisonment of particular activities of an individual to carry out an action. Cloud storing similar to any other untrusted surroundings wants the capacity to protect the shared data. The one of the apparatus of access mechanism is ciphertext-policy attribute-based encryption system over and done with dynamic characteristics. With a blockchain based distributed ledger, the scheme offers immutable log of whole significant safety events, for example key generation, change or revocation, access policy assignment, access request etc. Number of different problems similar to single point of failure, security and privacy etc. were targeted through …

This bibliometric analysis aims to understand how Lattice Boltzmann Method could be a potential solver in integrating computational fluid dynamics with image segmentation smoothly. Cardiovascular diseases have been a major health problem in our society and have been an interesting topic for researchers to focus on. Computational Fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation on well-segmented patient-specific images could help the clinicians in diagnosing many cardiovascular diseases in the initial stages itself thereby avoiding surgery. This paper focuses on how various methods have been used since 1988 and been successfully implemented in subsequent years. The bibliometric analysis is done from Scopus and the …

A Novel Approach To Teaching Hidden Markov Models To A Diverse Undergraduate Population, Philip Heller, Pratyusha Pogaru
A Novel Approach To Teaching Hidden Markov Models To A Diverse Undergraduate Population, Philip Heller, Pratyusha Pogaru
Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity
Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) are an essential tool for Bioinformatic analysis, with extensive success at finding patterns (e.g. CRISPR arrays or genes of interest) in DNA or protein sequences. HMMs are conceptually intricate, and the algorithms that make use of them are complicated. Thus they present a challenge to Bioinformatics instructors at the undergraduate level, particularly when the students’ educational backgrounds are broadly diverse. At San Jose State University, many undergraduate Bioinformatics students are Biology majors with little or no prior coursework in mathematics, statistics, or programming. For this population a theory-based approach to teaching HMMs would be ineffective. To …

Current maintenance intervals of mechanical systems are scheduled a priori based on the life of the system, resulting in expensive maintenance scheduling, and often undermining the safety of passengers. Going forward, the actual usage of a vehicle will be used to predict stresses in its structure, and therefore, to define a specific maintenance scheduling. Machine learning (ML) algorithms can be used to map a reduced set of data coming from real-time measurements of a structure into a detailed/high-fidelity finite element analysis (FEA) model of the same system. As a result, the FEA-based ML approach will directly estimate the stress distribution …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
This article aims to provide a solution for how the new Islamic civilization in the modern era should be the answer to overcoming the various problems of the world community. Since its emergence, Islam has provided answers related to the role of science as a whole contained in the Qur'an, so it is not surprising that Muslim scientists and their work have become a reference for scientists around the world for 14 centuries ago. However, the literacy of Muslim scholars is too focused on qouliyah verses that contain Sharia, rather than kauniyah verses that contain science. On the other hand, …
