Stock Price Prediction Using Deep Learning, Abhinav Tipirisetty
Stock Price Prediction Using Deep Learning, Abhinav Tipirisetty
Master's Projects
Stock price prediction is one among the complex machine learning problems. It depends on a large number of factors which contribute to changes in the supply and demand. This paper presents the technical analysis of the various strategies proposed in the past, for predicting the price of a stock, and evaluation of a novel approach for the same. Stock prices are represented as time series data and neural networks are trained to learn the patterns from trends. Along with the numerical analysis of the stock trend, this research also considers the textual analysis of it by analyzing the public sentiment …

The Santa Clara County Reentry Resource Center: Reentry Service Linkage And The One-Stop Shop Model, Rose Redlich
Master's Projects
AB 109 has resulted in a significantly greater need for reentry programs and services across California. Many county law enforcement officials now view reentry programs and services as a promising approach for keeping recidivism rates low.
Santa Clara County has recognized the value of well-coordinated, quick, and efficient reentry service delivery. In response to AB 109, the Office of the Sheriff and Department of Correction partnered with the Probation Department, Office of the County Executive, Behavioral Health Services Department, Custody Health Department, Ambulatory Care, and the Social Services Agency to establish the Santa Clara County Reentry Resource Center (SCCRC) in …
Sql Injection Detection Using Machine Learning Techniques And Multiple Data Sources, Kevin Ross
Sql Injection Detection Using Machine Learning Techniques And Multiple Data Sources, Kevin Ross
Master's Projects
SQL Injection continues to be one of the most damaging security exploits in terms of personal information exposure as well as monetary loss. Injection attacks are the number one vulnerability in the most recent OWASP Top 10 report, and the number of these attacks continues to increase. Traditional defense strategies often involve static, signature-based IDS (Intrusion Detection System) rules which are mostly effective only against previously observed attacks but not unknown, or zero-day, attacks. Much current research involves the use of machine learning techniques, which are able to detect unknown attacks, but depending on the algorithm can be costly in …

Nurse Practitioner Clinical Education: Evaluation Of A Clinical Residency Model, Lisa Wilson Hood
Doctoral Projects
A new clinical residency education model was developed and implemented in response to a family nurse practitioner program’s difficulty in securing and maintaining qualified preceptors and clinical sites for students in the program, and a community hospital’s shortage of nurse practitioners for their rural healthcare clinics. This Doctor of Nursing Practice project conducted an evaluation on this new model. The evaluation results showed that the clinical residency model met standards of nurse practitioner education, incorporated nursing leader recommendations for new clinical models, and proved to be an effective model for clinical education.

Prevalence And Prevention Of Diabetes In School Age Children: A Parent Education Module, Christine Mary Whitmyer
Prevalence And Prevention Of Diabetes In School Age Children: A Parent Education Module, Christine Mary Whitmyer
Doctoral Projects
The Center for Disease Control reports that there continues to be an increasing number of children being diagnosed with childhood-onset Type Two Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). The recommendation is to provide education to parents regarding the risks and possible risk factors of T2DM, and strategies to prevent and treat these risk factors (Center for Disease Control [CDC], 2014). Educating parents of school age children on T2DM risk factors, and prevention practices may help to slow down this rising number of new cases. The Aim is to provide educational modules that may increase knowledge, which could in-turn change behavior, that may prevent …

Understanding Occupational Injuries, Hanbit (Joyce) Choi
Doctoral Projects
The purpose of this project is to better understand the potential negative impact of longer commute times on work-related health complaints and its relationship with frequency of work-related injuries among general assembly workers from various factories in the Bay Area. Companies in the United States seek to reduce the cost of work-related injuries by investigating the causes of and implementing necessary programs in their workplaces. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are about 115,000 employees who spend more than 90 minutes commuting to their jobs in the San Francisco Bay and San Jose Silicon Valley areas (2013). However, there …

Mandala Generation From Brainwave With Feedforward, Kumari Anamika Sharaf
Master's Projects
Most experiments conducted in the early 1900s with Electroencephalography (EEG) [10] devices explored mental illness of the participants. Historically, EEG has had specific applications to diagnose sleep disorder, epilepsy, coma and brain death. Today, EEG devices are used extensively for research purposes [10], especially in the field of neuroscience. Traditionally, most experiments included a human participant wherein an EEG device was connected to the subject’s forehead to detect electrical impulses indicating different brainwaves. Each brainwave implied a different emotional state of mind. Past experiments [2] [3] [4] then used the brainwave signals as input to build audio/visual art to aid …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
English Transliterated names of Non-Roman language researchers have been indexed in citation databases in various ways and do not follow a specific rule. For this reason, all the works of a specific writer are not retrieved while searching. This problem is also evident in the transliterating the names of Persian language researchers widely. This study has examined the problems and inconsistencies in the interpolation of English Transliterated names of 1301 faculty members of SBMU [1] were indexed in Scopus and ISC[2] citation databases The results showed that 193 (15%) faculty members have not had indexed scientific production in both …

Developmental Ethanol Exposure Causes Reduced Feeding And Reveals A Critical Role For Neuropeptide F In Survival, Amanda Guevara, Hillary Gates, Brianna Urbina, Rachael French
Faculty Publications, Biological Sciences
Food intake is necessary for survival, and natural reward circuitry has evolved to help ensure that animals ingest sufficient food to maintain development, growth, and survival. Drugs of abuse, including alcohol, co-opt the natural reward circuitry in the brain, and this is a major factor in the reinforcement of drug behaviors leading to addiction. At the junction of these two aspects of reward are alterations in feeding behavior due to alcohol consumption. In particular, developmental alcohol exposure (DAE) results in a collection of physical and neurobehavioral disorders collectively referred to as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). The deleterious effects of …
