Artificial Intelligence-Driven Remaining Useful Life Prediction Of A Machinery-A Review, Dvij Barot, Honey Sharma, Mahika Yadav, Pooja Kamat

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The Remaining Useful Life of a machine is very useful statistical information for the operator and manufacturer. It provides a very clear perspective to the user how long the machine can be operated and if any faults are detected how can they be prevented and ultimately increase the Remaining Useful Life. If the operators are aware of the forthcoming issues of the machine the downtime caused in the inspection, part delivery and eventually replacing parts is significantly reduced.

The paper presents a study on the remaining useful life of machinery as it is an emerging technique, starting from the year …

Objective

The enormous growth in research data generated today has highlighted the value of data management (RDM) to make research FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interconnected and Reusable). Appropriate data instructs researchers to use and reuse that data within appropriate citations and attribute it to the author. And Data citation refers to the process of presenting a reference to data in the same way as a bibliographic reference to printed resources is regularly provided by researchers. In this regard, the objective of this paper is to investigate the activities of the Datacite website in managing research data.

Seismic Safety Standards Of Private School Buildings In The San Francisco Bay Area: An Exploratory Study, Charles Stauss

Master's Projects

The purpose of this study is to examine whether the Private Schools Building Safety Act of 1986 had an impact on the seismic safety of private school buildings in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Private Schools Building Safety Act was inspired by the Field Act of 1933 and subsequent legislation that significantly improved the seismic safety of California’s public schools. This paper begins by describing seismic activity characteristic of California and proceeds to elaborate upon legislation pertaining to the design and construction of school buildings. Following that is a description of the methods used to investigate the impact of …

Evaluation Of Historic And Operational Satellite Radar Altimetry Missions For Constructing Consistent Long-Term Lake Water Level Records, Song Shu, Hongxing Liu, Richard A. Beck, Frédéric Frappart, Johanna Korhonen, Minxuan Lan, Min Xu, Bo Yang, Yan Huang

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity

A total of 13 satellite missions have been launched since 1985, with different types of radar altimeters on board. This study intends to make a comprehensive evaluation of historic and currently operational satellite radar altimetry missions for lake water level retrieval over the same set of lakes and to develop a strategy for constructing consistent long-term water level records for inland lakes at global scale. The lake water level estimates produced by different retracking algorithms (retrackers) of the satellite missions were compared with the gauge measurements over 12 lakes in four countries. The performance of each retracker was assessed in …

Mid-Ocean-Ridge Rhyolite (Morr) Eruptions On The East Pacific Rise Lack The Fizz To Pop, Ryan A. Portner, Brian M. Dreyer, David A. Clague Apr 2021

Mid-Ocean-Ridge Rhyolite (Morr) Eruptions On The East Pacific Rise Lack The Fizz To Pop, Ryan A. Portner, Brian M. Dreyer, David A. Clague

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity

Eruptions on the Alarcon Rise segment of the northern East Pacific Rise (23.55°N, 108.42°W) at 2500−2200 m below sea level (mbsl) produced the most compositionally diverse volcanic suite found along the submarine mid-ocean-ridge (MOR) system, offering an opportunity to compare mafic through silicic eruption styles at the same abyssal depth. Eruption styles that formed evolved volcanic rocks on the submarine MOR have not been studied in detail. The prevalence of lava flows along the MOR indicates that most eruptions are nonexplosive, but some volcaniclastic characteristics suggest that explosive styles also occur. Higher viscosities in intermediate (103–5 Pa·s) versus mafic (101 …

Discrete Ion Stochastic Continuum Overdamped Solvent Algorithm For Modeling Electrolytes, D. R. Ladiges, A. Nonaka, K. Klymko, G. C. Moore, J. B. Bell, S. P. Carney, A. L. Garcia, S. R. Natesh, A. Donev

Faculty Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity

In this paper we develop a methodology for the mesoscale simulation of strong electrolytes. The methodology is an extension of the fluctuating immersed-boundary approach that treats a solute as discrete Lagrangian particles that interact with Eulerian hydrodynamic and electrostatic fields. In both algorithms the immersed-boundary method of Peskin is used for particle-field coupling. Hydrodynamic interactions are taken to be overdamped, with thermal noise incorporated using the fluctuating Stokes equation, including a "dry diffusion"Brownian motion to account for scales not resolved by the coarse-grained model of the solvent. Long-range electrostatic interactions are computed by solving the Poisson equation, with short-range corrections …

Promoting Civility In The Workplace: Addressing Bullying In New Graduate Nurses Using Simulation And Cognitive Rehearsal, Sandy Phan

Doctoral Projects

Bullying continues to be a widespread, devastating problem in nursing. Research indicates that bullying has a negative, rippling impact on nurses, organizations, and patient care. This evidence-based practice project aimed to enhance new graduate nurses’ abilities to identify and respond to bullying behaviors. The intervention used a mixed educational methodology of didactic, simulation role-play, and cognitive rehearsal. The project was implemented at a large academic healthcare system in Northern California. Outcomes were evaluated using Kirkpatrick levels 1-4 and the Clark Workplace Civility Index (CWCI). Participants reported that the educational intervention met intended learning objectives, enabled them to apply learned behaviors …
