Design Of A High Ratio Gear Reduction Unit, Jean Xydias
Design Of A High Ratio Gear Reduction Unit, Jean Xydias
Theses
This is a right angle gear drive design where helical and spiral bevel gears are being used. Because of the high speed ratio (1800/18 , input/output), three reductions were applied. Two helical gear sets were used in the first and second reductions (one each), and a spiral bevel set was used at the final reduction. The gears were mounted on four shafts, with the first and last shafts (output and input shafts) carrying one gear each straddle mounted, and the second and third shafts carrying two gears each, overhung mounted. The design was based on a criterion that was set …

The Effect Of Developer Composition On Adjacency Effects In Black And White Photography: Metol Vsl Phenidone, Paul L. Zengerle
The Effect Of Developer Composition On Adjacency Effects In Black And White Photography: Metol Vsl Phenidone, Paul L. Zengerle
Theses
Increased chemical adjacency effects in black and white photography can be obtained using certain Metol and Phenidone developers. Four different effects are described: 1) development inhibition by iodide ion 2) development inhibition by bromide ion 3) exhaustion of Metol 4) development inhibition by oxidized Phenidone Edge effects produced by Metol exhaustion and by Phenidone development are enhanced by moderate increases in pH. They are reduced by: the addition of hydroquinone, high levels of sodium sulfite, and high fog levels. Developers designed to increase adjacency effects also increase granularity. The trade-off betv/een acutance and granularity is approximately linear for the film-developer …

An Investigation Of The Effects Of Fabric And Stencil On Resolution And Registration In The Screen Printed Circuit Board, Jeffrey Paul Sauser
An Investigation Of The Effects Of Fabric And Stencil On Resolution And Registration In The Screen Printed Circuit Board, Jeffrey Paul Sauser
Theses
Printed circuit boards are a major component of most modern electronic devices. There are currently two major processes by which circuit boards are imaged; dry film and screen printing. This study investigated the screen printed circuit board. The resolution and registration limits are primary concerns of the screen circuit printer. These two factors are greatly influenced by two screen components; fabric and stencil system. The effects that two fabrics and two stencil systems had on the resolution and registration capabilities of a screen circuit printing system were determined. A test target was printed on a circuit substrate by a screen …

Investigation Of The Radiometric Integrity Of The Theogram After Its Raster Scan Lines Are Removed Through Spatial Filtration, Joan Allamena
Investigation Of The Radiometric Integrity Of The Theogram After Its Raster Scan Lines Are Removed Through Spatial Filtration, Joan Allamena
Theses
Thermograms are records of density levels which correspond to apparent temperatures. The process of thermographic imaging is based on Plank's law which relates temperature to radiance. It begins with the collection of quantum energy which is then converted to voltage. The voltage powers a light source to expose the recording material of the thermogram. Atmospheric effects must also be taken into consideration. The relationship which takes all variables into account can be found in appendix A.
A Study Of Comparable Identifiably Predictions Of Some Resolving Power Targets By Fourier Spectra Considerations, James Greene
A Study Of Comparable Identifiably Predictions Of Some Resolving Power Targets By Fourier Spectra Considerations, James Greene
Theses
This report documents a study conducted to examine the correlation between identification thresholds and difference spectra of some resolving power target characters. The experiment included the USAF Tri-bar target, the RIT Alpha-numeric Resolving Power Target, and a set of targets called the Granger Modified Tri-bar targets. Assuming that target identification is a filtering process and primarily a function of its frequency spectrum, this study began with a prediction of targets that would have equal identification thresholds from difference spectra considerations. Target images were viewed at various sizes to confirm/refute the original hypothesis. The USAF targets demonstrated adequate control of experimental …
