Assembly Cell Design For The Canister Control Valve, Alfred A. Gates
Assembly Cell Design For The Canister Control Valve, Alfred A. Gates
Theses
This thesis involved the design and testing of a robotic assembly cell for a canister control valve. The valve regulates the air flow to a carburetor of an automobile and is presently hand assembled at Rochester Products Division of General Motors. It consists of a body, a spring, a diaphragm and a cap. Each part required special handling by the robot.
A simulated canister control valve assembly cell has been built in a laboratory using an Adept One robot. This report covers the design process of the cell along with the test of the cell. The report also includes pertinent …

An Investigation Into The Limits Of Registration Error In Tri-Color Continuous Tone Images, Carolyn Braley
An Investigation Into The Limits Of Registration Error In Tri-Color Continuous Tone Images, Carolyn Braley
Theses
A study has been completed which quantifies the amount of misregistration allowable on a continuous tone multi-color image. By the use of color separation filters and a misregistration device, the actual threshold limits of registration have been derived for each individual color. The correlation between the subjective, visual impression, and the actual numerical quantity have been examined. As a result the specific threshold limits have been determined and can be used for any continuous tone imaging application.
Film Granularity And The Effect On Subjective Image Quality, James A. Wisner
Film Granularity And The Effect On Subjective Image Quality, James A. Wisner
Theses
The evaluation of subjective image quality in pictures is investigated as a function of the scene content of the images and the grain level of the images . In the pictures studied, no relationship was observed for the effect of scene content when the only other variable was the grain level.

Network Performance Monitors, Daniel Sorrentino
Network Performance Monitors, Daniel Sorrentino
Theses
Over the last 10 years both industry and academia have conducted extensive research and development in the areas of local area network management and performance. This thesis investigates some different ways of measuring the performance of local area networks and studies hardware and software systems designed to watch over network performance and events. These systems are termed "network performance monitors." As part of the thesis, a network performance monitor has been implemented to monitor TOOLSNET, an Ethernet based local area network, supervised by the Engineering Tools Technology group at Compugraphic Corporation. This network performance monitor is called TOOLSNET ANALYSIS PACKAGE, …

Computer Enhancement Of Real World Photographic Images Using Homomorphic And Linear Filtering, Nitin Sampat
Computer Enhancement Of Real World Photographic Images Using Homomorphic And Linear Filtering, Nitin Sampat
Theses
Digital Image Processing techniques have become increasingly popular in the last few years. Conventional silver halide photography continues to be used by the large amateur market, but not without "imperfect" images. There is almost always a need for enhancement or subsequent improvement after the photograph is made. This study dealt with computer image enhancement of such "imperfect" photographs using homomorphic (non-linear) and linear frequency-domain digital filtering (on a VAX-11/785) and a comparison in effectiveness was determined, using a subjective criteria for image quality. It was found that, in general, linear filtering is to be the preferred method of choice when …

Analysis Of Vehicle Suspension System Subjected To Random Vibration, Shabbir Lokhandwala
Analysis Of Vehicle Suspension System Subjected To Random Vibration, Shabbir Lokhandwala
Theses
A two dimensional, two degree of freedom vehicle model is studied. A randomly profiled road is assumed to impart hyperbolic distributed stationary vertical random displacements to the front and the rear wheel. A computer program has been developed to evaluate transfer function matrices. The performance characteristic of the vehicle based on the Power Spectral Density of the vertical acceleration as well as the rattle space, for different values of damping factors, are studied.

Characterization Of G.C.A. Wafertrac 9000 Using Kodak Micro Positive 820 Resist And Developer Zx-934, Janet Chapin Mcfarland
Characterization Of G.C.A. Wafertrac 9000 Using Kodak Micro Positive 820 Resist And Developer Zx-934, Janet Chapin Mcfarland
Theses
A static coating program and a spray/static development program were developed, for use on the Wafertrac 9000 using Kodak Micro Positive 820 resist and developer ZX-934 in order to minimize critical dimension shift and maximize process latitude. By maximizing process latitude, a greater tolerance for process and equipment errors can be achieved. Using the established process, 1.2µm resist lines were produced and critical dimension shift was minimized providing a process with wide process latitude for creating photoresist geometries with dimensions larger than 1.2µm.
