Assessing The Contribution To Opv Efficiency Of Energy Transfer In Charge Transfer Coupled H-Aggregates., Tyler James Wiegand
Theses
Organic photovoltaics (OPVs) are intended to be low-cost, long-lived devices with an array of possible applications. While record device power conversion efficiencies continue to improve, developments have largely been achieved with increasingly synthetically complex, high-cost molecules. Meanwhile, a deeper understanding of underlying molecular excited states and active layer structures influencing long-term performance is often neglected. To improve understanding of what drives efficiency in OPVs, Squaraine, a synthetically simple, low-cost organic molecule with a diverse array of excited state species and blending properties, is considered here. Focus is placed on the Squaraine charge transfer H aggregate (HCT) and how active layer …

Shiftable Load Forecasting And User-Centric Demand-Side Optimization For Nanogrid, Akash Kumar
Shiftable Load Forecasting And User-Centric Demand-Side Optimization For Nanogrid, Akash Kumar
Theses
Increased focus on sustainability and energy decentralization has positively impacted the adoption of nanogrid (NG). Despite its perceived advantages, NG’s high load volatility poses risk not only to its stability but also to the associated network. This is further exacerbated by the user’s transient moods and the probabilistic nature of metrological events. Moreover, unoptimized operation of electrical appliances in a NG, especially in peak hours, raises the energy cost substantially. Thus, for risk aversion and cost savings, day-ahead demand-side optimization is highly required, especially for shiftable loads. Moreover, most load centers, aspiring to be NGs, have either limited or no …
