Polychromatic Mtf Of A Pinhole Camera, Arthur Messenger
Polychromatic Mtf Of A Pinhole Camera, Arthur Messenger
Theses
Polychromatic MTFs based on the work of Hopkins and Sayanagi are developed for a pinhole camera using standard 5500°K daylight and a black and white, and a color reversal film. On and off-axis MTF were developed for the radial and tangential cases. Conclusions are drawn about the depth of focus and "best" focal position. A monochromatic depth of field study was done, showing both the need to focus and the infinite character of the pinhole camera.

The Systematic Status Of Painted Turtles (Chrysemys) In The Northeastern United States, F. Harvey Pough, Margaret Pough
Articles
: Chrysemys picta from islands and the mainland of the northeastern United States show great intrapopulation variation in characters distinguishing C. p. picta from C. p. marginata. There are no significant differences between island and mainland samples. The extent of variation in Chrysemys populations in the northeastern United States precludes meaningful delimitation of restricted areas of intergradation. These turtles probably represent a hybrid swarm.

Evaluation Of An Alphanumeric Target As A Means Of Determining The "Resolution" Of A Photographic Reconnaissance System, Mark Underhill
Evaluation Of An Alphanumeric Target As A Means Of Determining The "Resolution" Of A Photographic Reconnaissance System, Mark Underhill
Theses
This experiment relates three forms of resolution as predictors of recognition and identification of objects that could be of interest in a military photo-reconaissance situation. Of the three forms of resolution, two are based on existing types of resolution target currently used for assesment purposes and the third, being evaluated under this experiment, is based on a Block Letter (alphanumeric) target. The results and conclusions of this experiment will show that at a confidence of 90%, the Block Letter target provides a significantly better resolution value for the prediction of recognition and identification of the type of objects used in …

A Theoretical Investigation Of Color Correction Masking For The Graphic Arts, Clarence Gutteridge Jr
A Theoretical Investigation Of Color Correction Masking For The Graphic Arts, Clarence Gutteridge Jr
Theses
The theoretical functional relationship between mask density and original red, green, and blue densities has been described for a photomechanical reproduction system. A computational model simulating the reproduction system was derived and programmed on a digital computer. Spectrophotometric curves were used as originals and the needed ink amounts to reproduce these colors were specified by a set of transformation equations. The relationship obtained by regression analysis did not completely agree with conventional masking requirements. The results of this investigation are compared with the negative photographic mask technique to investigate the inadequacies of the photographic process to give adequate masking.
Thin-Layer Chromatographic Separations Of Cycloketone 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazones, Robert Slentz
Thin-Layer Chromatographic Separations Of Cycloketone 2,4-Dinitrophenylhydrazones, Robert Slentz
Theses
Ten cycloketone 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazones have been chromatographed by thin-layer techniques using Eastman Chromagram sheets coated with silica gel and developed with benzene in Eastman sandwich apparatus. Good separations of all test compounds from binary mixtures with the standard cyclohexanone 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone are reported as well as good separations of more complex mixtures of the test compounds. Lack of precision is noted despite a rigorous standardized procedure. Evidence is offered that chromagram sheets differ in adsorbent activity.
