The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing educational opportunities for K-12 students is grounded on the premise that AI technologies can significantly overcome traditional barriers that K-12 educators often encounter in the classroom. Despite those barriers, nearly a third of educators are leveraging AI in the classroom for teaching and or learning purposes. Findings from Kabudi et al. (2021) highlight that the rapid development of AI-adaptive systems has outpaced their implementation in real-world settings. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping education, yet its integration into K–12 mathematics remains limited. This scoping review synthesizes 7 empirical studies (2022–2025). The primary purpose of this review is to explore the benefits, challenges, and gaps in AI integration in mathematics. This review is guided by Arksey and O'Malley's scoping review framework. The reviewed literature data is analyzed through reflexive thematic analysis. This review identified four key themes: prompting literacy, accuracy norms, efficiency, and personalization. This qualitative study examines how K–12 educational leaders perceive the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence (AI) as it’s implemented in school districts. Through in-depth interviews with superintendents, principals, and district leaders, the study explores how leaders frame AI’s emerging role, how they navigate organizational readiness, and how they support staff and students during implementation. Grounded in Technology Leadership Theory (Dexter & Richardson, 2019), the study highlights the leadership and technology practices that support sustainable, ethical, and instructionally aligned AI adoption in public schools.

This comparative study investigates the different emphases of the four mainstream GenAI tools when adopted to design interdisciplinary learning projects for the 9-12 STEM education. It addresses a gap in understanding the specialties of GenAI tools when used to support instructional design in STEM education (Zekaj, 2023). The researchers gave the same prompts for designing a project-based learning session to the GenAI tools: ChatGPT 5, Gemini 2.5 Pro, Copilot, and Claude Sonnet 4.5. This review examines how secondary mathematics teachers’ knowledge and beliefs about Artificial Intelligence (AI) shape their use of AI-based learning tools in algebra instruction. Drawing on Wilkins’ (2008) adaptation of Ernest’s (1989) model, the study synthesizes existing literature to explain how teachers’ understanding of AI interacts with their beliefs to influence the depth and quality of classroom implementation. The review highlights the reciprocal relationship between knowledge, beliefs, and practice, emphasizing the need for sustained professional development to support purposeful and equitable integration of AI in mathematics teaching.

This study examined preservice teachers’ AI-integration competencies using the Intelligent TPACK framework, considering both quantitative and qualitative data. Results indicated that beyond knowing how to use and interact with AI tools, preservice teachers need holistic preparation for AI-supported teaching that integrates pedagogical, content, technological, and ethical dimensions.

This study examines the experiences of in-service teachers in a graduate-level online 4-week English language learning (ELL) licensure course—Assessment of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students—in Summer 2025. The key assignment required co-creating formative assessment tools with Colleague AI, an AI-powered assistant for teachers to streamline lesson planning, formative assessment and other classroom tasks (https://www.colleague.ai). Specifically, this study explored how these educators leveraged AI capabilities while applying their professional learning and judgment to ensure fairness, validity, and cultural responsiveness when developing formative assessments for multilingual learners.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has taken the education field by storm. Yet mixed messages have left educators uncertain about how to approach the technology in practice. This pilot study examined how K-12 in-service teachers use AI tools in their teaching and how they characterize their experiences. Eight participants from a suburban midwestern U.S. school engaged in open-ended interviews about their use of AI, their platform of choice, and their perceptions of the benefits. Findings show that teachers primarily used ChatGPT to generate rubrics, create content-specific material, produce video transcripts, and draft or refine parent emails. This case study explores the integration of microelectronics contexts and content into middle school classrooms as part of a workforce development initiative intended to address national labor force needs arising from increased investments in the semiconductor industry. The study follows four middle school technology and engineering teachers as they develop, implement, and refine an instructional unit designed to introduce students to microelectronics production and semiconductor-related careers. This study investigates how students learn to use information at a remote field station to prepare for roles as environmental researchers, climate advocates, and citizens. Using a semi-structured interview approach, the researchers examined the perceptions of twelve field station instructors on how their students engage with information to learn in a place-based educational context. Weeds remain a major biological threat to agriculture, reducing crop yields and causing substantial economic losses. Conventional blanket herbicide applications are costly, environmentally damaging, and accelerate the evolution of herbicide resistance. Machine vision–based precision weeding offers a sustainable alternative by enabling site-specific weed localization and removal. This study advances plant perception through YOLOv10 detection models and leverages a 1-cm nozzle array to achieve precise weed targeting that maximizes treatment efficacy while minimizing crop contact. Advances in remote sensing and AI-driven algorithms have improved forest structure measurement, enabling more efficient wildfire risk assessment by identifying critical fuel sources such as standing deadwood (snags). Snags are often omitted or underrepresented in field measurements, which can lead to inaccurate estimates of snag counts. This study applies CSRNet, a convolutional neural network originally designed for crowd counting, to count snags using National Agriculture Imagery Program color infrared images. Soil health indicators are increasingly used to guide conservation practice outcomes, but their vertical distribution and relationship to nutrient losses in surface runoff remain understudied. Since 2016, we have conducted multi-depth soil health assessments across agricultural fields in the Great Lakes Basin transitioning to conservation practices such as cover cropping and no-till. Our goal was to identify soil metrics that are predictive of edge-of-field (EOF) water quality outcomes. We assessed 21 biological, chemical, and physical soil indicators at 0–5 cm and 5–15 cm depths, calculating stratification ratios (SR = 0–5 cm ÷ 5–15 cm) for 57 site-years. Nine indicators met …
