You Are Only As Safe As Your Riskiest Contact: Effective Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution Using Local Network Information, Alec M. Mcgail, Scott L. Feld, John A. Schneider

When vaccines are limited, prior research has suggested it is most protective to distribute vaccines to the most central individuals – those who are most likely to spread the disease. But surveying the population’s social network is a costly and time-consuming endeavour, often not completed before vaccination must begin. This paper validates a local targeting method for distributing vaccines. That is, ask randomly chosen individuals to nominate for vaccination the person they are in contact with who has the most disease-spreading contacts. Even better, ask that person to nominate the next person for vaccination, and so on. To validate this …
Importance Of Seasonal Variation In Hawaiian Mushroom (Agaricomycetes) Basidiomata Production For Biodiversity Discovery And Conservation, Jeffery K. Stallman, Kyra Robinson
Importance Of Seasonal Variation In Hawaiian Mushroom (Agaricomycetes) Basidiomata Production For Biodiversity Discovery And Conservation, Jeffery K. Stallman, Kyra Robinson
Purdue University Libraries Open Access Publishing Fund
The Hawaiian Islands have a relatively well-known funga for a tropical location, yet there are over 400 species of mushrooms (Agaricomycetes) in the archipelago that remain to be documented. Importantly, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) recently evaluated six mushrooms endemic to the islands as threatened with extinction. To improve detection of mushrooms for biodiversity discovery and better monitor threatened species in the archipelago—where many localities lack strong annual precipitation patterns associated with an obvious season for increased mushroom basidiomata production—we examined the phenology of Hawaiian mushrooms. Monthly richness was determined from a literature review and abundance from …

The Australia, United Kingdom, United States (Aukus) Nuclear Submarine Agreement: Potential Implications, Bert Chapman
FORCES Initiative: Strategy, Security, and Social Systems
The AUKUS Nuclear Submarine Agreement seeks to enhance multinational deterrence against Chinese geopolitical assertiveness by giving Australia nuclear powered submarines.
▶ This agreement will pose considerable cost and technical challenges for the Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
▶ Estimates of when Australia will be able to deploy nuclear submarines range from 2030-2040.
▶ The U.S. and its allies will have to make challenging decisions about where to build AUKUS in Australia.
▶ There is debate as to whether efforts to deter China in the Asia-Pacific should include non-Anglosphere countries in that region.
▶ Consideration should be given …

Influences Of Personal Innovativeness On Purchase Intention Of Wearable Devices, Beom-Jin Choi
Influences Of Personal Innovativeness On Purchase Intention Of Wearable Devices, Beom-Jin Choi
KAUPA Letters
Wearable devices are smart electronics that are worn on and/or close to the human body. This study explores the influences of consumers’ personal innovativeness (CPI) on the relationship between wearability, relative advantage, novelty, aesthetics, and social image on purchase intention of wearable devices. The findings show that social image, novelty, aesthetics, and relative advantage affect purchase intention of consumers whereas wearability shows no significant effect on purchase intention. Novelty shows a significant effect only with consumers of high personal innovativeness.
