Background

As engineering work has become increasingly globalized, prior studies have examined the intercultural attitudes and competencies of engineering students and practicing engineers. However, we lack tools to study how engineers engage in global work across industries, roles, and organizational contexts.

Purpose

The purpose of this study was to develop a tool to measure engineers' interest, confidence, and frequency in performing global work tasks. To this end, we designed the Global Task Performance (GTP) indices, which evaluate four dimensions of engagement in global engineering work.

The agrifood sector faces well-documented barriers to climate-smart agriculture (CSA) adoption, reflecting systematic difficulty identifying where digital tools address specific stakeholder needs rather than a technology shortage. This paper presents a prescriptive framework for mapping digital innovation opportunities in complex, multi-stakeholder agrifood systems. Grounded in Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD) theory and structured as a two-dimensional matrix of meta-jobs and value chain segments, the framework was developed through a design science research (DSR) paradigm evaluated on utility, coherence, and actionability. Evaluation and Learning Research Center Reports

Project RISE aims to address civic opportunity and achievement gaps faced by underserved populations by integrating engineering design thinking with civic education in US middle and high schools. The curriculum uses a focus on community-based problem-solving as a mechanism for inspiring and empowering students – particularly those from traditionally underserved backgrounds – to engage in activities aimed at addressing systemic inequities in their communities. Following a week-long professional development in the summer 2024, the participating pilot teachers were tasked with implementing lessons plans and teaching practices from the RISE curriculum and reflect upon their classroom experiences post-implementation.

This work investigates the influence of internal prefilmer geometry on fuel spray atomization in the prevaporization tube (PVT) of a small-scale reverse-flow annular gas turbine combustor. Four configurations are examined: a control with no prefilmer, a planar internal prefilmer, and two angled internal prefilmers at θ = 60◦ and θ = 45◦ . Double-pulsed digital in-line holography (DIH) is used to measure droplet size distributions, spray density, Sauter mean diameter (SMD), and droplet velocities at the PVT exit under conditions scaled to represent nominal ignition conditions. High tunnels can be used to grow winter alliums such as onions, garlic and leeks.  Onions are  diverse and include groups such as short-day and intermediate-day bulb onions as well as non-bulbing scallions or green onions.  Onions can be diverse in color, size and shape.  Short day onions are typically sweet onions which start bulbing when photoperiods reach 10-12 hours. Short-day onions are typically planted in November-December in the Deep South of the U.S. for spring harvest.   Intermediate day onions start bulbing when the photoperiod is 12-14 hours.  Intermediate day onions are planted in the spring in the Mid-Atlantic region. …

Science of Reading

We examine how phonological awareness and morphological awareness develop across early childhood and discuss the implications of these developmental trajectories for literacy instruction. Drawing on previous research, we highlight that these cognitive-linguistic skills develop in predictable progressions. We argue that understanding these developmental trajectories is essential for designing literacy instruction that is both evidence-based and developmentally appropriate.

This digital toolkit provides reflective and practical exercises, examples, and resources to explore how Students as Partners (SaP) pedagogy (Cook-Sather et al., 2014) can transform information literacy (IL) instruction. The toolkit was designed to accompany a workshop presented at LOEX 2026, but can be implemented independently, as well. This approach to IL pedagogy draws on a conceptual model integrating SaP with the Framework for Information Literacy (LeGrand, 2025).
