Psychosocial risks in construction are increasingly recognised, yet evidence remains fragmented regarding how site-level physical and operational characteristics shape workers’ mental health and wellbeing. This exploratory study aims to develop an evidence-based conceptual framework to identify relationships between construction site characteristics and workers’ mental health and wellbeing. A systematic literature review of 51 studies (2014–2025) identified 34 site-related indicators grouped into five domains: environmental conditions, welfare amenities and facilities, safety and security, work settings and practices, and physical space design. Enhancing quality in higher education (HE), particularly in architecture and planning (A&P) education, requires moving beyond fragmented perspectives on learning environments toward more integrated and systemic approaches. This study addresses this need by developing a conceptual framework for the quality environment in A&P education based on Total Quality Management (TQM). Drawing on a theory-building methodology, the study synthesizes literature on HE quality, TQM, and learning environments, with particular attention to the pedagogical and contextual characteristics of A&P disciplines, through a thematic analysis and iterative abstraction process. Urban rail construction is one of the most safety-critical engineering domains, where even minor errors can lead to catastrophic consequences. Large Language Models (LLMs) offer promising capabilities for automating safety risk extraction from accident reports; however, their deployment is critically hindered by hallucinations – outputs that are fluent yet factually incorrect or logically inconsistent. The article presents findings of a study aimed at assessing the extent to which health and safety regulations (HSR) are adhered to at building construction sites in and around Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana. This study investigates strategies to address lift installation challenges in low-to mid-rise apartment buildings in the Greater Accra Region, recognising the essential role of lift systems in enhancing accessibility, functionality, and efficiency in modern multi-storey developments. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected from 133 purposively selected building occupants to identify key hindrances and practical strategies for effective lift adoption. The findings reveal that although lifts remain underutilised in many residential buildings, several strategic measures can mitigate installation challenges. This study investigates the perceived impact of safety training programs on construction workers’ safety performance in Ghana with the aim of proposing evidence-based recommendations to enhance training effectiveness. This paper, contributing a small part to a related PhD, uses a systematic literature review approach to examine the impact of commuting on fatigue, safety and wellbeing among construction workers. Eight empirical studies were analysed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis with three themes being identified: commute length, long working hours and commuting vs staying away from home. The results indicate that commutes can far exceed the UK average commute length, and this, combined with long working hours, reduces sleep opportunities. Additive construction (AC) is progressing beyond pilot applications towards structural, load-bearing use, yet its path to mainstream adoption remains constrained by a set of interrelated and persistent barriers. This paper examines the drivers and barriers to scaling AC through the analytical lens of Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations framework, reviewing academic and grey literature organised around its five adoption rate dimensions: relative advantage, complexity, compatibility, trialability, and observability. The review finds that the relative advantages of AC are well evidenced, spanning labour efficiency, delivery speed, design freedom, and embodied carbon reduction. Construction safety communication, a central mechanism for hazard mitigation, has advanced along three global trajectories, namely symbolic standardization, cognitive diagnostics, and intelligent digital interventions. However, their combined insights have been minimally applied to the Indian construction context, where high fatality rates persist, disproportionate to the country’s share of the global workforce. Toolbox Talks (TBTs) serve as the primary mechanism for task-level hazard communication on construction sites worldwide; however, their effectiveness in contexts outside North America and Europe remains poorly understood. This paper presents one of the first systematic examinations of TBT practice on Indian construction sites, combining semi-structured interviews with 14 safety professionals and a PRISMA-guided systematic review of 30 international studies spanning more than 10 national contexts. Despite a growing national commitment to sustainability, New Zealand's construction sector continued to face significant challenges in reducing its environmental impact. This study presented a thorough analysis of sustainability practices and perceptions among subcontractors within the sector. The research was conducted through a comprehensive questionnaire survey distributed nationwide, with a total of 104 NZ subcontractor respondents, to capture a diverse range of subcontractor businesses, examining their current practices, attitudes, and challenges. Neurodivergent workers are increasingly recognized in workplace inclusion debates, yet construction remains underexplored as a context where cognitive difference is shaped by project-based work, site intensity and entrenched operational norms. This study examines how neurodiversity is understood and operationalized in construction organizations, focusing on organizational climate, leadership, communication practices and material work conditions. A qualitative exploratory design was used, based on semi-structured interviews with fifteen senior construction professionals across office and site environments. Thematic analysis identified recurring patterns influencing inclusion.
