Corridor Ranking With Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measurers, Christopher M. Day
Purdue Road School
Automated traffic signal performance measures (ATSPMs) are being deployed with increasing frequency. This session presents a method of evaluating corridor performance at the system level using high-resolution data. This method develops five subscores for the areas of communication, detection, safety, capacity allocation, and progression; these are given a letter grade based on quantitative performance measures, with context-appropriate scales. An aggregate score for each corridor is determined using the lowest subscore of each of the five areas.

The Effect Of Problem-Based Learning On The Creative Thinking And Critical Thinking Disposition Of Students In Visual Arts Education, Kani Ulger
Interdisciplinary Journal of Problem-Based Learning
The problem-based learning (PBL) approach was implemented as a treatment for higher education visual arts students over one semester to examine its effect on the creative thinking and critical thinking disposition of these students. PBL had a significant effect on creative thinking, but critical thinking disposition was affected to a lesser degree. One possible reason for this result is that in this study, open structures were used for learning activities as a nonroutine problem-solving process to develop creative thinking. Accordingly, the results of this study indicate that PBL can help students with nonroutine problem-solving processes by maintaining uncertainty and enhancing …

This research presents the process for a systematic literature review examining factors that contribute to runway incursions (RIs). A systematic literature review uses other research results as data for systematic analysis. Runway safety is a top priority. In the US, RIs have been increasing and typically three RIs occur every day. This paper identified 134 articles using 22 databases. Filtering criteria and analysis identified six contributing categories: human factors, airport geometry, technical factors, airport characteristics, environmental factors, and organizational factors. Recommendations for reduction of RIs and suggestions for further studies are presented based on these factors.
