Distribution Functions For Outputs Of Certain Linear Filters For Random Square-Wave Inputs, J. A. Mcfadden, A. R. Cohen, Aug 1961

Distribution Functions For Outputs Of Certain Linear Filters For Random Square-Wave Inputs, J. A. Mcfadden, A. R. Cohen,

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

This report considers the problem of the calculation of the distribution function of the output of a linear filter with a random square—wave input. The systems considered are the finite-time integrator, the RC low- pass filter, and certain restricted higher-order filters. The inputs are square-waves in which the lengths of axis-crossing intervals are random, but statistically independent. For the finite-time integrator with a coin-toss square-wave input, a difference equation for the characteristic function of the output is derived and solved. The continuity and differentiability properties of the distribution function of the output of an RC low—pass filter are discussed. Under …

Roadside Weed And Brush Control With Chemicals, D. G. Shurig, Jean E. Hittle May 1961

Roadside Weed And Brush Control With Chemicals, D. G. Shurig, Jean E. Hittle

Indiana Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) Publications

This bulletin, developed primarily for the highway engineer and the county road supervisor, describes the more important herbicide materials available for roadsides, their recommended use, and application methods. Information is also provided to help county road officials develop better weed and brush control programs for county road systems. The last part of the bulletin covers details of planning a county-wide weed and brush control program.

Specification And Data Presentation In Linear Control Systems-Part Two, John E. Gibson, Eccles S. Mcvey, C. D. Leedham, Rekasius Z. V., Schultz D. G., Sridhar R. May 1961

Specification And Data Presentation In Linear Control Systems-Part Two, John E. Gibson, Eccles S. Mcvey, C. D. Leedham, Rekasius Z. V., Schultz D. G., Sridhar R.

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

This is the second part of a 2 volume report on the specification and data presentation in linear control systems. This volume deals with Sample Data Systems, Linear Time Variable Parameter Systems, and Performance Indices, which are respectively Chapter II, III, and IV of the volume. Since these subjects are somewhat unrelated, a separate abstract is given at the beginning of each chapter, with the exception of the introductory Chapter I. The separate chapter abstracts are repeated here for the convenience of the reader. Abstract - Linear Sampled Data Control Systems The specifications recommended, for use with sampled data control …

Stability Of Nonlinear Control Systems By The Second Method Of Liapunov, John E. Gibson, Eccles S. Mcvey, C. D. Leedham, Rekasius Z. V., Schultz D. G., Sridhar R. May 1961

Stability Of Nonlinear Control Systems By The Second Method Of Liapunov, John E. Gibson, Eccles S. Mcvey, C. D. Leedham, Rekasius Z. V., Schultz D. G., Sridhar R.

Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technical Reports

This report investigates the stability of autonomous closed-loop control systems containing nonlinear elements. An n-th order nonlinear autonomous system is described by a set of n first order differential equations of the type dxi/dt=xi(x1, x2, …xn) i=1,2,…n. Liapunov's second (direct) method is used in the stability analysis of such systems. This method enables one to prove that a system is stable (or unstable) if a function V=V (x1, x2, … xn) can be found which, together with its time derivative, satisfies the requirements of Liapunov's stability (or instability) theorems. At the present time, there are no generally applicable straight forward …
