Airline Quality Rating 2002, Brent D. Bowen, Dean E. Headley
Airline Quality Rating Report
The Airline Quality Rating (AQR) was developed and first announced in early 1991 as an objective method of comparing airline quality on combined multiple performance criteria. This current report, Airline Quality Rating 2002, reflects monthly Airline Quality Rating scores for 2001. AQR scores for the calendar year 2001 are based on 15 elements that focus on airline performance areas important to air travel consumers.
The Airline Quality Rating 2002 is a summary of month-by-month quality ratings for the 11 largest U.S. airlines operating during 2001. Using the Airline Quality Rating system of weighted averages and monthly performance data in the …

Material layers with a thickness of a few nanometers are common-place in today’s semiconductor devices. Before long, device fabrication methods will reach a point at which the other two device dimensions are scaled down to few tens of nanometers. The total atom count in such deca-nano devices is reduced to a few million. Only a small finite number of “free” electrons will operate such nano-scale devices due to quantized electron energies and electron charge. This work demonstrates that the simulation of electronic structure and electron transport on these length scales must not only be fundamentally quantum mechanical, but it must …

Performance-Related Specifications For Concrete Bridge Superstructures, Volume 2: High-Performance Concrete, J. Olek, Aijsing Lu, Xiuping Feng, Bryan Magee
JTRP Technical Reports
This is Volume 2 of the Final Report for the project titled “Performance-Related Specifications for Concrete-Bridge Superstructures” dealing with the topic of High-Performance Concrete (HPC). The investigation of high-performance concrete included the development of optimized concrete mixtures and identifying their performance characteristics related to durability for the purpose of using these characteristics in performance–related specifications in the state of Indiana. The research effort described in this report was divided in two phases. Phase I was focused on development of concrete mixtures optimized with respect to selected performance-related parameters. During this phase, ten optimum concrete mixes have been identified from 45 …

Energy is an important commodity in many economic activities. Its usage affects the environment via CO2 emissions and the Greenhouse Effect. Modeling the energy-economy-environment-trade linkages is an important objective in applied economic policy analysis. Previously, however, the modeling of these linkages in GTAP has been incomplete. This is because energy substitution, a key factor in this chain of linkages, is absent from the standard model specification. This technical paper remedies this deficiency by incorporating energy substitution into the standard GTAP model. It begins by first reviewing some of the existing approaches to this problem in contemporary CGE models. It then …

Current standard CPR only provides about one fifth of normal forward blood flow and only about one quarter of the blood flow that is theoretically possible with advanced external techniques. Two such techniques are now approved as optional alternatives in resuscitation guidelines. This chapter reviews modern understanding of the physiology of blood flow during CPR and practical aspects of utilizing more advanced resuscitation methods. When properly performed these methods produce statistically significant increases in survival.
