An Analysis And Evaluation Of The American Electoral College, Norma N. Williams Oct 1968

An Analysis And Evaluation Of The American Electoral College, Norma N. Williams

Dissertations and Theses

The Constitutional Convention of 1787 was greatly divided over the question of how to select the new nation's chief executive. The method finally adopted was a compromise between direct election and election by the national legislature and provided that individual states, as they saw fit, choose electors equal to the total number of Senators and Representatives. From the beginning, most of delegates considered the proposal awkward and irrational almost to the point of absurdity, but as they argued about it, they became convinced that it was then the only plan which could overcome the objections raised by other methods.

Investigation Of Attitudinal And Behavioral Changes Of Selected Sixth Grade Students Who Attend An Outdoor School, Robert R. Sesar

Dissertations and Theses

The out-of-doors is being utilized increasingly by school personnel for developing programs to extend the classroom to include the natural environment. It is hoped that a climate for learning, enriched with direct laboratory experiences, will establish a situation where all students benefit. This study is concerned with the investigation of students' attitudes and self-concepts following such an outdoor school experience.

The students selected for this study attended a sixth grade class from one of the following Oregon schools: Holy Redeemer and George, of Portland; Eastham, located in Oregon City, and Rainier located in the town of Rainier. The test group …

William Morris: Esthetic For Community, F. Eloise Taggart Aug 1968

William Morris: Esthetic For Community, F. Eloise Taggart

Dissertations and Theses

This paper analyzes and evaluates William Morris’s esthetic for community. At the age of forty-three, after becoming an eminent poet and a well-known decorative design artist, he began to devote most of the last twenty years of his life to generating an interest in the better community.
