Given the increasing emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, high school students' perspectives on ChatGPT are underrepresented in current research literature. As high school student researchers in an English Language Arts course, we approached this gap in literature by asking the question: In what ways do pressures within high school communities influence students’ perspectives on justifying or rejecting the use of ChatGPT? Rates of emergency department (ED) presentations for suicide crisis (thoughts, feelings, plans and behaviours) in adolescents are increasing. Parents play a key role in supporting adolescents during and after the ED presentation, however little is known about parental experiences in the ED. Interviews with 20 parents from across Australia were undertaken to help understand this experience. A reflexive thematic analysis was conducted, resulting in three themes which explore the impact of the suicide crisis and ED presentation on the parents’ sense of identity. Trophically transmitted parasites require an intermediate host to be consumed and often manipulate host phenotype (i.e., morphology, physiology, and/or behavior) to increase predation risk by definitive hosts. Posthodiplostomum is a trematode with a complex life cycle involving snails as first hosts, fish as second intermediate hosts, and piscivorous birds as definitive hosts. In fish hosts, Posthodiplostomum infection has been linked to increased predation, suggesting suppression of antipredator behaviors. However, the specific physiological pathways remained unexplored and changes in the host’s neural, endocrine, and immune systems could be involved. Eastern oysters (Crassostrea virginica) are essential habitat-forming species that contribute significantly to coastal water quality due to their filter-feeding behavior. Unlike other coastal regions in the Gulf of Mexico and Northeastern United States, oysters are not commercially managed in Southeast Florida and as a result sparse data exists on locations of the Eastern oyster habitat. Similarly, the benefits of oyster reefs to water quality are also not fully documented in Southeast Florida. The movements of animals in response to environmental variation influence the fitness of individuals and drive major ecological processes, while also varying their exposure level to anthropogenic risks. Understanding the movements and spatial distribution of imperiled species is critical for developing effective conservation strategies. This can be difficult for wide ranging and highly migratory species, such as sea turtles. Throughout their adult life stages, the females of most sea turtle species spend the majority of their time in their foraging areas for multiyear intervals between nesting periods. Factors That Contribute To An Increased Risk For Dental Caries And Prevention Methods, Allen Lee

BIO4960: Practicum in Biology I

This health literacy project focuses on identifying effective strategies for preventing dental caries by analyzing various aspects of an individual’s daily habits. Key lifestyle factors such as sleep patterns, dietary choices, and physical activity were explored in relation to their impact on oral health. The motivation for this project arose from direct observations of the high prevalence of cavities during clinical shadowing experiences, as well as growing evidence in the literature, highlighting an increasing trend in dental caries.
