Digressions: Literary & Art Journal

It’s easy for us to become trapped in our own minds. As we find ourselves surrounded by challenges, we may sometimes forget that we are not alone in feeling pain. It is through this pain that we grow and it is through dissecting these events that we learn from our struggles.

In this 16th volume of Digressions, you will find a juxtaposition of pain and happiness. In these pages is a collection of personal experiences, and each piece of expression is as unique as its creator. While every contributor’s story is different, their words, photography and artwork reflect what we …

Triumph Of The Nomothetic: Personality Assessment And Forensic Psychology, Marvin W. Acklin Jan 2019

Triumph Of The Nomothetic: Personality Assessment And Forensic Psychology, Marvin W. Acklin

Archives of Assessment Psychology

This study locates personality assessment within the discipline of forensic psychology, examining the forensic relevance of major paradigms of personality assessment -- psychodynamic, interpersonal, personological, multivariate, empirical, and neuroscience -- with a focus on the clinical and forensic assessment of psychopathy. A credible personality paradigm must produce testable hypotheses, have associated assessment measures, and have a supporting empirical research literature (Wiggins, 1973). In the first survey, a systematic literature of the PsycINFO database revealed that all of the major personality assessment paradigms satisfy criteria for scientific credibility with the exception of the personological. In the second survey, the status of …

Species Richness, Diversity, And Abundance Of Sponge Communities In Broward County, Florida, 2000-2015, Jessica Price

HCNSO Student Theses and Dissertations

Sponges (Porifera) are a major component of coral reef ecosystems. They outnumber coral species on the Florida Reef Tract, and in places, account for more living cover. Because coral reefs are a vital part of Florida’s economy, it is important to understand how local sponge assemblages vary spatially and temporally, especially as corals continue to decline. However, long-term observations of sponge assemblages (species richness, diversity and abundance) are lacking. To address this, annual photoquadrats were analyzed from a series of 25 sites off Broward County between 2000 and 2015. Variations in sponge assemblages were then compared to several natural and …
