On October 1, 1981, the United States Court of Appeals for the

Fifth Circuit affirmed the decision of the district court in Scheinberg v.

Smith,'that the parental consent provisions of the Florida Medical

Practice Act regarding abortion, unconstitutionally invaded a woman's

right to privacy.

For purposes of this analysis, "civil commitment" is a form of noncriminal

confinement for those who are legally found to be mentally

ill.1 With the minor exception of rare confinement for some communicable

diseases, there is no analogue of involuntary commitment for

physical illness.

v. Davis,1 a group of black applicants, unsuccessfully seeking

police positions on the District of Columbia Police Force, sued alleging

the entrance test, in effect, was racially discriminatory because they

failed at a rate much greater than white applicants.

A Comprehensive Therapeutic Exercise Program For The Moderately-Disabled, Brain-Injured Person, Karl G. Knopf

The purpose of this study was to develop a series of learning activities relevant to the needs of the moderately-disabled, brain-injured individual who is involved in a secondary rehabilitation program. The major components which the learning activities addressed were balance, coordination, and flexibility.

The hypothesis of this study was that brain-injured persons who were engaged in the newly-designed learning activity program would develop a significantly greater level of: (1) static balance, (2) neuro-muscular coordination, and (3) flexibility than the group which did not experience such a program. This hypothesis was tested using an Analysis of Covariance to the .05 level …
