The aim of this qualitative descriptive study was to gain an in depth understanding and knowledge regarding how Omani families care for a member with mental illness including how they supported the later in self-care activities. Data was collected from participants using a purposive sample consisting of ten family caregivers whose member was in Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in Muscat. Each caregiver participated in one semi-structured interview. The interviews were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The findings included two major themes: The first theme was “caring and empowering with empathy, love, and understanding.” The second theme was “self-denial and giving …

We reviewed Taylor, Bogdan, and DeVault’s book entitled, Introduction to Qualitative Research Methods: A Guidebook and Resource (4th ed., 2016), and found to be an all-inclusive guide, user-friendly, and resourceful for qualitative researchers. Its inclusion of selected studies as examples to align them with the narratives of the main body of the study makes its value greater.

Purpose: Newer studies have suggested that interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives led by students can be successful in engaging their peers in IPE. Despite this, few studies exist that examine the student response to student-led IPE activities. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and describe the healthy behaviors of teamwork at internship sites of undergraduate health and exercise science students. Data from the Jefferson Teamwork Observation Guide (JTOG) tool, in conjunction with five open-ended debrief questions were used as an innovative means of assessment to evaluate the quality of interprofessional experiences at various internship sites, as reviewed by the internship coordinator. Purpose: The purpose of this pilot study was to attempt to describe how feeding education was provided to a group of caregivers of infants with cleft lip and/or palate and how they viewed the feeding experience. Purpose: This study aimed to assess the relationship between the behavioral, normative, and control beliefs of dental hygienists (DHs) and their behavioral intention to provide anticipatory guidance (AG) to expecting parents and caregivers of infants and toddlers. Methods: A descriptive, cross-sectional survey design used convenience sampling strategies to recruit DHs (n=335) who provided oral health care to expecting parents and caregivers of children 0-5 years old. Background: Bilateral lower limb amputation is becoming more frequent in recent years. This case report will outline the pre-operative and post-operative physiotherapy protocol for bilateral lower limb amputations following dry gangrene. Additionally, this case was evaluated to see if postoperative physiotherapy treatment consisting of prevention of complications, patient education, independent self-care, and functional mobility improved outcome. This research sought to evaluate race strategies in Cross Country running to determine whether a fast, predicted, or slow start would yield the best results when coupled with an advancing or regressing strategy from the 1st checkpoint through to the finish. Twelve National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship races were analyzed from 2021 to 2022 (N=315 teams; 2,205 runners). Success was defined by each team's finish relative to their anticipated finish, as determined through pre-championship national rankings. Active ageing is a multidimensional, relative, and context-dependent concept with different paths and outcomes. This qualitative study aimed to explore personal active aging strategies in a specific context. Following a directed thematic analysis procedure, we conducted semi-structured individual interviews with 39 seniors (men and women) between the ages of 60-97 years selected with purposeful sampling, data collection and analysis were concurrent. The authors employed a scoping review to examine peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2017 and 2020 focusing on the relationship between food insecurity among deaf and hard of hearing (DHOH) populations and language barriers using American Sign Language (ASL). Four databases yielded 257 peer-reviewed articles during the initial search. Four peer-reviewed articles were included in the review to explore the relationship between food insecurity among DHOH populations and language barriers using ASL. Multiple contributing factors create a food-insecure individual. Results indicate that income level, mental health status, and caregiver communication are all predictors of food security for DHOH. Purpose: This article explored the changing body sizes of high school football linemen recruited to play for “Power 5” schools between 2003 and 2020 when factoring in the position group. This study also allowed for a cross-sectional analysis to explore body size differences within and between “Power 5” conferences. Methods: The dataset contained 7,428 linemen, and a cross-sectional design was used to examine position and conference affiliation related to the differences in height, weight, and Body Mass Index over three time periods. The fish genus Cyclothone is considered the most abundant vertebrate taxon on Earth. Despite this assertion, very few detailed ecological studies of this genus exist for any site in the World Ocean, largely due to the lack of expertise (and willingness) to identify specimens from existing sample sets. This study will provide a species-level description of the abundance, vertical distribution, and size structuring of the genus Cyclothone in the Gulf of Mexico, a hyper-diverse, deep-pelagic ecosystem that is increasingly impacted by anthropogenic disturbances. Creatine supplementation is an effective ergogenic aid to augment resistance training and improve intense, short duration, intermittent performance. The effects on endurance performance are less known. The purpose of this brief narrative review is to discuss the potential mechanisms of how creatine can affect endurance performance, defined as large muscle mass activities that are cyclical in nature and are >~3 min in duration, and to highlight specific nuances within the literature. Background Blenderized gastrostomy tube feedings (BGTFs) consist of pureed table foods and liquids that are administered as enteral tube feedings. Compared to commercial enteral formulas (CEFs), BGTF has been shown to have fewer side effects. Despite these results, apprehensions have been raised about microbial contamination, nutritional deficiencies or surplus, risk of gastrostomy tube (GT) blockages, and lack of consistency in clinical outcomes. Most bacteria exist and interact within polymicrobial communities. These interactions produce unique compounds, increase virulence and augment antibiotic resistance. One community associated with negative healthcare outcomes consists of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. When co-cultured, virulence factors secreted by P. aeruginosa reduce metabolism and growth in S. aureus. When grown in vitro, this allows P. aeruginosa to drive S. aureus toward extinction. However, when found in vivo, both species can co-exist. Previous work has noted that this may be due to altered gene expression or mutations.
