Earnings Yield As A Predictor Of Return On Assets, Return On Equity, Economic Value Added And The Equity Multiplier, Rebecca Abraham, Judith Harris, Joel Auerbach

HCBE Faculty Articles

This study identifies earnings yield as a measure of financial performance that is based on a firm's ability to sell profitable goods. It excludes the irrationality that can confound market-based measures of financial performance by emphasizing a firm's ability to earn profits as the indicator of superior performance. For the full sample, the differential effects of earnings yield on return on assets, return on equity, stock returns, economic value added and the equity multiplier are determined for firms of different size and volatility. The analysis is conducted both across industries and within the oil and gas, computer software, biotechnology and …

Evaluation Of Microshear Bond Strength Of Light-Cured Composite For Cementation Of Ceramic Veneer, Khalid Motlaq

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Brief background and goal/ research question: Ceramic restorations were introduced as indirect restorative materials that combine high esthetics with superior mechanical properties. However, an important requirement for successful function of these restorations is adequate adhesion between the restoration material and tooth structure. The use of CAD/CAM restorations is steadily increasing, proper function and longevity of these restorations depends on good adhesion to the underlying substrate as well as operator technique. Preheated composite has been recommended by some clinicians and investigators for the adhesive luting of porcelain laminate veneers based on its good marginal adaptation and perceived superior mechanical durability when …

A Conversation Analysis Of Therapist-Client Interactional Patterns In Single Session Therapy: A Researcher's Interpretation, Nozomu Ozaki

Department of Family Therapy Dissertations and Applied Clinical Projects

In response to the growing awareness of the issue of accessibility to mental health services (World Health Organization, 2013), single session therapy (SST) has been implemented in various settings throughout the world. (Hoyt &Talmon, 2014b; Miller, 2008; Miller & Slive, 2004; Talmon, 2014). Although there has been much advancement in the knowledge and application of SST, an understanding of therapist-client interactional patterns that enfold in SST is extremely scarce. In this study, I investigated how therapists collaboratively improved the talk in SST turn by turn in such a way that promoted therapeutic improvement. I utilized conversation analysis (Sacks et al., …

The Relationship Between Mainstream Radio Music, Vulgar Lyrics, And Race And The Impact On The Criminal Black Male Stereotype., Deangelo K. Brown Jan 2017

The Relationship Between Mainstream Radio Music, Vulgar Lyrics, And Race And The Impact On The Criminal Black Male Stereotype., Deangelo K. Brown

School of Criminal Justice Theses and Dissertations

The criminal Black male stereotype, cemented in early American literature, has been perpetuated in movies, TV shows, and now on mainstream radio. For this study, Billboard song lyrics were analyzed for three main themes—violence, misogyny, and drugs/alcohol. Billboard song rankings are based on digital download sales, radio airplay, and Internet streaming. The researcher found that the songs played on hip hop and rap genre radio stations con-tained lyrics that strongly correlated with the three themes. The researcher also examined whether a relationship existed between artist’s race and lyrics about violence, misogyny, and drugs/alcohol. Black artists comprised 48% of the artists …

Examining The Impacts Of Current Malpractice Frameworks And Emtala On Emergency Medicine, Sai Balasubramanian

Nova Law Review

Emergency medicine is a relatively new medical specialty, and has

gained popularity in the last decade for both its irreplaceable role in the

healthcare system, as well as the numerous social, legal, and administrative

developments that have emerged as a result of the field’s exponential

growth.1 Emergency medicine is defined by the American College of

Emergency Physicians (“ACEP”) as “the medical specialty dedicated to the

diagnosis and treatment of unforeseen illness or injury.”

Check "Mate": Australia's Gun Law Reform Presents The United States With The Challenge To Safeguard Their Citizens From Mass Shootings, Denise Cartolano

Nova Law Review

“My biggest frustration [as President] so far is the fact that this

society has not been willing to take some basic steps to keep guns out of the

hands of people who can do just unbelievable damage.”2 “We know that

other countries, in response to one mass shooting, have . . . [managed] to

craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours; allies of

ours—Great Britain, Australia; countries like ours.”3

–President Barack Obama

Florida Orthodontist Participation As Medicaid Providers, Lisa Brooks Jan 2017

Florida Orthodontist Participation As Medicaid Providers, Lisa Brooks

Student Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

Low-income families are usually unable to afford the cost of orthodontic treatment. The Medicaid program exists to assist these families’ access to medical and dental care, including orthodontics in children and adolescents with severe malocclusions. There exists a contrast between need and care-received, which is a product of several general factors. This study will examine the factors involved with orthodontist participation. Previous studies have indicated that low reimbursement rates and excessive paperwork are among the reasons that providers choose not to participate in Medicaid. New studies have identified factors that were accurately able to predict if a dentist is a …
