The Role Of The Diaspora In The Peace Process In The Democratic Republic Of The Congo:A Qualitative Case Study, Solomon Lulonga Mlongetcha Jackson
Department of Conflict Resolution Studies Theses and Dissertations
The ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) continues as one of the world's most prolonged and most intractable conflicts in human history. The problem being studied was that over 5 million Congolese individuals had been displaced because of the conflict, forcing them into repetitive cycles of poverty and militarization. Therefore, the purpose of this qualitative single case study was to explore the perceptions and lived experiences of members of the DRC diaspora on their various roles in the conflict resolution process in their home country. A secondary purpose was to identify barriers they perceived toward peacekeeping processes …

Evaluating Conflict Resolution Training For Effectiveness: Developing Knowledge And Skills For Multiple Perspectives, Jessica Arriola
Department of Conflict Resolution Studies Theses and Dissertations
Managers and leadership teams invest time in resolving workplace conflicts, but the key question is whether professional learning effectively delivers lasting outcomes for individuals and organizations. This study created an eight-hour conflict resolution training on Bolman and Deal’s Four Leadership Frames to educate Central Florida professionals on using multiple perspectives in conflict resolution, evaluating effectiveness through the Kirkpatrick Model. Directed qualitative content analysis (DQCA) was used to gauge the effectiveness of the training, therefore answering the overarching research question: Is conflict resolution training of the Four Frames of Leadership by Bolman and Deal perceived as effective training by human resource …

Privacy Vs. Social Capital: Examining Information Disclosure Patterns Within Social Media Influencer Networks, Eidan James Rosado
Privacy Vs. Social Capital: Examining Information Disclosure Patterns Within Social Media Influencer Networks, Eidan James Rosado
CCAC Theses and Dissertations
Adversaries have several ways to leverage and expose the data disclosed in social media network engagements for different motives including but not limited to fraud, discreditation, or social engineering. Previous research on social media interactions discussed increased engagements where influencers and viral trends were involved. Studies also discussed engagements declining over time. Within posts or engagements, personal identifiable information (PII) can be shared with varying rate of risk severity. Publicly available data such as this can be leveraged by adversaries. With the absence of insights of whether influencers impact engagements and disclosures, the goal of this study was to obtain …
Design Science Nutrition Label Approach: Satiating U.S. Consumer Concerns For Information Privacy (Cfip) With Privacy Home Automation Assessment Scorecards (Phaats), Andrew S. Ramos
CCAC Theses and Dissertations
In today’s technology-dependent society, information privacy and cybersecurity boundaries between human-to-machine-to-web are non-existent or built on questionable business practices. Consumers are becoming more reliant on and even addicted to their technological enabling, or internet of things (IoT), life tools (e.g., smartphones, smarthome devices, smart-wearable devices). Nevertheless, consumer information privacy rights in the United States have not fully matured to legal ramifications against businesses like in other countries, e.g., the European Union’s 2018 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The real issue lies in consumers not understanding the opportunity cost of associated privacy trade-offs. While some are unaware, others disregard such trade-offs …

Ganoderma lucidum is a mushroom-forming fungus that has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years. G. lucidum, also known as lingzhi or reishi, is consumed in several Asian cultures to promote health and longevity. Bioactive molecules isolated from mushroom fruiting bodies have been demonstrated to have cytotoxicity against different cancer cell lines. Triterpenes and polysaccharides are the two major groups of compounds that exhibit antitumor and anti-inflammatory properties both in in vitro and animal studies. These anticarcinogenic compounds have already demonstrated apoptosis induction and cell cycle arrest. Genes involved in the production of triterpenoids are organized into …

Using Ontological Methods To Compare Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification 2.0 And Cobit 19, Aaron Marshall Ramey
CCAC Theses and Dissertations
Cybersecurity frameworks developed by a variety of organizations and implemented by a much larger collection of organizations differ in their focus and application. Whether designed by a private or government organization, the primary goal is to provide a framework to assess and reduce risk. The Department of Defense (DoD) has recently implemented the second version of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC 2.0). In some situations, compliance with CMMC 2.0 has already become mandatory for the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). Compliance will soon be required for all Large Businesses (LB) and Small Businesses (SB) within the DIB. While COBIT 19 …

Combating Disinformation On Social Media Networks With Media And Information Literacy Training For Social Media Network Users, Oscar Kwok Chao Ho
CCAC Theses and Dissertations
In the Internet age, social media networks (SMNs), such as Facebook (FB), Instagram (IG), and Twitter (TW), have gained popularity and become an essential part of human life. SMNs provide ease of connection to family, friends, and communities; however, they increase the chances social media network users (SMN users) will disclose private information (PI), causing critical harm to SMN users’ information privacy (IP). Furthermore, SMN users are exposed to significant amounts of disinformation, misinformation, or fake news, which they share without realizing the information is untrustworthy.
The goal of this developmental research was to investigate, examine, and understand the effects …

Development Of Cybersecurity Footprint Index For Manufacturing Companies To Assess Organizational Cyber Posture, John A. Del Vecchio
CCAC Theses and Dissertations
With the continued changes in how businesses work, cyber-attack targets are constantly in flux between organizations, individuals, and various aspects of the supply chain of interconnected companies delivering goods and services. As one of the 16 critical infrastructure sectors, manufacturing is known for complex integrated Information Systems (ISs) incorporated heavily into production operations. Many of these ISs are procured and supported by third parties, also called interconnected entities in the supply chain. Disruptions to manufacturing companies would not only have significant financial losses but would also have economic and safety impacts on society. The vulnerabilities of interconnected companies create inherited …

Historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) contributed to over 20% of all bachelor’s degrees earned by African American students. Since the 2019 pandemic, HBCUs have provided more online course offerings to their students. The continued success of HBCUs depends on their ability to grow with technology. This study examined the lived experiences of faculty applying universal design for learning (UDL) principles in online courses at HBCUs. This study was conducted to gain insight into the impact UDL had on retention rates, learning experience, and implementation. Online courses at HBCUs are underdeveloped, which poses a problem for continued growth and success …

A Study On Reducing Motor Stereotypy With Response Interruption And Redirection Using Functionally Matched And Unmatched Stimuli, Alana Fallucca
Theses and Dissertations
This applied dissertation was designed to expand the scope of existing literature on the use of response interruption and redirection intervention with functionally matched and unmatched stimuli to reduce motor stereotypy in children with autism. While response interruption and redirection is an effective, evidence-based strategy for the reduction of vocal and motor stereotypy, it requires interruption of each instance of stereotypic behavior and implementation of an alternative behavior. This process can be laborious, implementation of which depends upon the frequency of stereotypy. To mitigate the intervention difficulties with response interruption and redirection implementation, a single-step functionally matched stimulus that is …
