"The discovery of deeper production and higher pressures has resulted in the need for control equipment for preserving and protecting these great reservoirs of energy; and, in the case of high pressure condensate wells, has resulted in the need for means for preventing freezing or hydrate solidification caused by throttling the production. Development of a successful removable subsurface regulator has enabled operators to reduce dangerously high surface flowing pressures to safe workable limits; and, by moving the point of principal pressure reduction from the surface to warmer subsurface levels, has resulted in complete elimination of freezing conditions in flow lines. …

"To date, to the author's knowledge, there has been no successful application of the hydraulic drive to oil-well pumping. It is understood, however, that there is, at the present time, an installation in the Oklahoma City oil field, near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, wherein a manufacturer of hydraulic couplings and an oil-producing company have cooperated in experimental work with the fluid drive applied to a pumping well. SCOPE OF THIS REPORT all the beams heretofore tested in this program were furnished with web stiffeners in order to aviod crushing of the web at the load points and at the supports. In practical application the use of such stiffeners at points of concentrated loads would not only be uneconomical but also would impair the versatility of the elements, since stiffeners would have to be spaced on each individual beam according to the particular location and loading. For this reason it seem essential to investigate the resistance of unreinforced webs to concentrated loading. The tests reported herein are to …

"In the early days farmers attempted to drain their land individually, but they soon found that water did not recognize property lines. One farmer would ditch his land only to find that the water from his neighbor's farm would wash over has land and fill up his ditches. Another would attempt to ditch his land, but would find that no outlet was available for his ditch unless he constructed it across the land of his neighbor. Because of such situations, groups of farmers cooperated in constructing drainage improvements. However, difficulty was encountered in reaching an agreement as to the division …

"A review of the chemical literature has shown that electro-organic methods compare favorably with purely chemical methods for certain syntheses belonging to the following general classes of reactions: coupling, oxidation, reactions with halogens, and reductions. Electro-organic methods have been used most successfully in synthesis by reduction. The chief advantage is using electrolytic reduction in preference to a chemical one is that it offers a more exact control of conditions, and consequently should give a higher yield and a purer product. "The principal source of raw material for the production of high-alumina refractories are the diaspore clays of Missouri. These highly refractory clays contain a large percentage of the mineral, diaspore, a monohydrate of alumina whose theoretical chemical formula is Al₂O₃ʺH₂O. The clays as mined contain from 85 to 65 per cent alumina...Diaspore clays as now found fill sandstone-lined "sink holes" or depressions in the parts of the district underlain by rocks of the Pennsylvanian Age. The hazards encountered because of the present international crisis make it almost impossible to import high-grade ores. This present investigation is concerned with a method for quantitative determination of sodium and potassium as accurately as by customary chemical methods and which will require less time in its operation.
