Design Of A 2 Hp Repulsion Start Induction Motor, Joseph Worley Jan 1931

Design Of A 2 Hp Repulsion Start Induction Motor, Joseph Worley

Professional Degree Theses

"The Repulsion Start Induction motor comprises a wound field or stator of laminated structure and a wound armature or rotor whose coils are connected to a commutator upon which brushes bear and function during the starting period. This motor operates as a repulsion motor during the starting period and at a predetermined speed the short circuiting device actuates and short circuits the commutator. The motor then operates as an induction or squirrel cage type. The starting torque of this type of motor is exceptionally high, generally 300% to 400% of full load torque. Consequently this type of motor is regarded …

Technical Methods Of Analysis For Mill Products, Daniel Elijah Huffman Jan 1931

Technical Methods Of Analysis For Mill Products, Daniel Elijah Huffman

Professional Degree Theses

"In mining and milling operations it is necessary that the assays be known as soon as possible, also that these results are more accurate than the sampling or the operation that produced the samples. This means that both speed and accuracy must be considered when selecting a method for the analysis of samples"--Technical Methods of Analysis, page 1.

All of these data are used in connection with the determination of depreciation rates for the classes of plant mentioned"--Section I. General, page 4.

Gas Analysis By Measurement Of The Thermal Conductivity, Bertie Lee Browning Jan 1931

Gas Analysis By Measurement Of The Thermal Conductivity, Bertie Lee Browning

Professional Degree Theses

"Types of gas analysis. Methods for the analysis of gases may be divided into two general classes, physical and chemical. In chemical methods, a constituent of the gas mixture undergoes chemical reaction and the amount of the constituent is determined by change in volume or by supplementary chemical methods such as titration. The physical methods of analysis differ in that no chemical change takes place in the gas. Instead, a determination is made of some physical property which is related to the composition of the gas mixture. Some of the physical properties which have been used for purposes of analysis …

Proposed Method Of Ventilating The Frood Mine, Herman Jacob Mutz Jan 1931

Proposed Method Of Ventilating The Frood Mine, Herman Jacob Mutz

Professional Degree Theses

"The Frood Mine lies about two and one half miles north of the City of Sudbury, Ontario. The Frood deposit was among the first discoveries in the district, but was not considered as a very important deposit until 1925, when a deep drilling campaign disclosed higher grade ore with depth"--page 3.

A Summary Of Operations And Practice At Shenandoah-Dives, Howard Histed

Professional Degree Theses

"The property of the Shenandoah-Dives Mining Company is located in the Animas Mining District, San Juan County, Colorado. The Mine is located on King Solomon Mountain, four miles east and one mile south of Silverton. Silverton is on a branch line of the narrow guage Denver & Rio Grande Western Railway, on which the nearest smelter is located at Durango, a distance of about fifty miles. Included in this report is a claim map showing all the claims and their relative locations"--Location of the Property, page 1.

Georgia Kaolin As The China Clay Constituent In Floor And Wall Tile Bodies, Alfred Arthur Mitchell Jan 1931

Georgia Kaolin As The China Clay Constituent In Floor And Wall Tile Bodies, Alfred Arthur Mitchell

Bachelors Theses

"The replacement of the China Clay content in vitreous floor tile and porous wall tile bodies wholly by Georgia sedimentary kaolin would reduce the cost of these bodies being used in our floor and wall tile plants at present. This plastic kaolin is available in large quantities in the State of George, covering an area of about 7500 square miles. It is the intention of this work to substitute this American Clay for the more costly imported English China Clay now being used"--Introduction, page 1.

Disintegration Of Green Missouri Fire Clay Bodies At Low Temperatures, Wilbur Brooks Schofield Jan 1931

Disintegration Of Green Missouri Fire Clay Bodies At Low Temperatures, Wilbur Brooks Schofield

Bachelors Theses

"Several years ago in the Ceramics Lab. of the Missouri School of Mines some A. P. Green Ozark Clay test pieces were left in a drier for a period of about seven months at a constant temperature of 110C. At the end of this period it was noticed that these specimens had disintegrated and crumpled down to a powdered mass. The object of this experiment was to repeat the former test and see if the clay would disintegrate and if so why. We also wished to find if by drying at higher temperatures for a shorter length of time would …

A Qualitative Study Of Arsine And Stibine Reactivity Toward Inorganic Salts In Certain Solvents, John Edgar Antener Jan 1931

A Qualitative Study Of Arsine And Stibine Reactivity Toward Inorganic Salts In Certain Solvents, John Edgar Antener

Masters Theses

"The effects of arsine and stibine on some substances have been investigated by various workers and recorded without any attempt at systematic classification. In this work a more comprehensive study of the precipitating effect of arsine and stibine on common inorganic salts in certain solvents, namely, water, ethyl alcohol, ethyl ether, acetone, carbon disulphide, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, and benzene has been made, with an attempt at reactivity classification"--Introduction, page 1.

Some Results Of Magnetometric Surveying In Missouri, John Gustave Grohskopf Jan 1931

Some Results Of Magnetometric Surveying In Missouri, John Gustave Grohskopf

Masters Theses

"This thesis describes the results of a series of magnetic surveys carried on in the state of Missouri. The financial assistance required for the work was granted in the form of a fellowship to the author by the Industrial Club of the Industrial Bureau of St. Louis; Mr. George S. Smith, Director. Since the progress of any industrial center is accelerated by the mineral resources contiguous to it, the Industrial Club believed that further research upon known and also undeveloped mineral deposits might result in the development of them. It was decided that geophysical methods of research might show greater …
