The Selection And Treatment Of Wood Poles As Used In Electric Distribution, Albert Charles Laun Jan 1925

The Selection And Treatment Of Wood Poles As Used In Electric Distribution, Albert Charles Laun

Professional Degree Theses

"The purpose of this thesis is to assemble in a compact form all desirable information on the subject of wood poles as used for Overhead supports in the electrical distribution industry. This thesis is in reality a handbook of facts as gathered by actual experience and by a rather thorough research into the subject"--Purpose of the Thesis, page 3.

Evidence To The Production Of Commercial Oil From The Emerson-Texon Fold, Kurt H. De Cousser Jan 1925

Evidence To The Production Of Commercial Oil From The Emerson-Texon Fold, Kurt H. De Cousser

Professional Degree Theses

"The area consists of a strip of country twelve to twenty five miles wide and nearly seventy miles long, extending from Stiles in Reagan County southwest-ward across Crockett County and Pecos County to the Big Canyon Ranch in Terrell County. Map #2 accompanying this report is a small scale geological map of the general region, which shows the location of the general area covered for this report with reference to drainage railroads &c.. The entire area worked in detail comprises nearly 1300 sq. miles or over 800,000 acres"--Location and topography, page 1.

Construction Details And General Discussion Of The 10 Watt Radio Telephone Transmitter At The Missouri School Of Mines, Leonard Oliver Williams

Bachelors Theses

"In radio communication it is necessary to have a device to radiate electrical waves and a device to receive electrical waves. Devices used for this purpose are called antennas"--The Antenna, page 1.

Cupola Practice In Modern Gray Iron Foundry, George E. Mellow Jan 1924

Cupola Practice In Modern Gray Iron Foundry, George E. Mellow

Professional Degree Theses

"Cupola practice, as described in this paper, will include only the practical operation of a cupola and the details of the work necessary in daily routine, and very little of the theory of combustion, or history of cupola development, is presented. A brief description of the cupola will give an idea of its construction, and the names of the parts may be found on the sketch herewith"--page 1.

Engineering Practice In The Tri-State District, Richard John Stroup Jan 1924

Engineering Practice In The Tri-State District, Richard John Stroup

Professional Degree Theses

"Mining operations of the zinc and lead deposits of Southwest Missouri, Southeast Kansas and Northeast Oklahoma forming what is known as the Tri-State District are peculiar in many ways. The 'old country' with its shallow gougings and more or less crude methods has practically passed; methods have been improved with the increased size of operations, and the Engineering Department has grown into an indispensable link in the mining operations of practically all the operating companies. But traditions often die hard. Many phases of mining operations are peculiar to this District alone, and likewise engineering practice has its peculiarities"--page 1.

A Discussion Of Electric Welding, Peter Fergus Thompson Jan 1924

A Discussion Of Electric Welding, Peter Fergus Thompson

Bachelors Theses

"This thesis deals with the different processes, methods and uses of Electric Arc Welding; and tests made in the laboratory with Direct and Alternating Current"--page iii.

Transmission Of Electrical Energy At 220,000 Volts, Robert Wilhelm Ahlquist Jan 1924

Transmission Of Electrical Energy At 220,000 Volts, Robert Wilhelm Ahlquist

Bachelors Theses

"A. E. Silver at the Annual Convention of the A.I.E.E. in 1919 gives some of the reasons why 220,000 Volt transmission is a logical and feasible commercial proposition. He also gives some of the main features of the undertaking...Owing to the great scope of this paper it has been thought necessary to generalize on the discussion of the first two topics and to treat the next two in more detail"--Statement of Scope of this Paper, pages 3-4.

The Analysis Of Stresses And Design Of Multiple-Arch Dam, Guy Robert Scott Jan 1924

The Analysis Of Stresses And Design Of Multiple-Arch Dam, Guy Robert Scott

Bachelors Theses

"The so-termed: "Multiple", or "Scallop-Arched" dam, as its name implies, is one composed of a series of arches, either semi-circular or segmental in plan. These arches were first vertical but were later inclined downstream, when the engineers recognized the value of the weight of water in increasing the resisting moment. The thrust of these arches, due to the water pressure and the weight of the arch itself, is transmitted directly to the buttresses. There are numerous advantages to this type of dam over that of the gravity type"--Introduction, page 1.

Conductivity And Ionization Of Certain Salts In Absolute Alcohol, Armin Brene Jewell Jan 1924

Conductivity And Ionization Of Certain Salts In Absolute Alcohol, Armin Brene Jewell

Masters Theses

"One of the most striking observations one makes in connection with the study of the conductivities of alcoholic solutions is their great similiarity [sic] to those of aqueous solutions with the exception that the values of the concentrations are very much smaller. The differences are rather of degree than of kind. It will be noted that as the temperature is increased the molecular conductivity increases and the fraction of salt decreases which is what would be expected by analogy"--Discussion, page 43.

The Reduction Of Zinc Oxide By Carbon, George August Zeller Jan 1924

The Reduction Of Zinc Oxide By Carbon, George August Zeller

Masters Theses

"In spite of the fact that the reduction of zinc oxide by carbon is the fundamental reaction upon which the pyrometallurgy of zinc is based, there is a decided lack of accurate knowledge concerning the mechanism of the reaction, the temperature at which it begins, and the effect of various factors upon the rate at which it takes place"--Introduction, page 1.
