Th importance of fresh-water organisms is usually underestimated, especially by the very people who live near bodies of fresh-water and who thus can observe such organisms throughout the year. It is really easier to study minute life forms than it is to study larger organisms, for the former can be examined under all kinds of conditions as experiments are performed upon them.
