The Mysticism Of Richard Rolle Of Hampole: An Historical Study Of Causes And Influences, John B. Weber
The Mysticism Of Richard Rolle Of Hampole: An Historical Study Of Causes And Influences, John B. Weber
Bachelors’ Theses
Christian mysticism, by theological definition, is the life of contemplative prayer and meditation by which a person achieves a supernatural love and knowledge of God as he really is. Over the centuries Christian mystics have explained the mystical life as the free gift from God in the Trinity. At the same time these men and women have had difficulty making the nuances of mysticism understandable to non-mystics.

The Linacre Quarterly
The purpose of this department in The Linacre Quarterly is to make available by titular listing such current articles as are thought to be of particular interest to the Catholic physician by virtue of their medical literature although, of necessity, this source is the most fruitful. When abstracts appear, they are intended to reflect the content of the original article. Parenthetical editorial comment may follow the abstract if considered desirable. Contributions from readers are invited.

A Historical Study Of The Development Of The Embryo In The Germinating Tubers Of Nephrolepis Cordifolia, Baker, Verne Schwalbach
A Historical Study Of The Development Of The Embryo In The Germinating Tubers Of Nephrolepis Cordifolia, Baker, Verne Schwalbach
Bachelors’ Theses
The tubers of Nephrolepis cordifolia.- Baker were first reported and studied by Professor Heinricher (1881). His work with the tubers was concerned with what he termed regeneration. However, this term, regeneration, was found to have the same connotation as the term germination and the two were used interchangeably throughout his work.
A Course Of Study In History Of The Wausau Schools In Third, Fourth, Fifth And Sixth Grades, Gertrude Mcguine
A Course Of Study In History Of The Wausau Schools In Third, Fourth, Fifth And Sixth Grades, Gertrude Mcguine
Bachelors’ Theses
The purpose of this thesis is to assemble a workable course of study to be used in the teaching of social studies in the intermediate grades of the schools of Wausau. At present, only a limited amount of time may be given to the teaching of the social studies, exclusive of Geography, which is treated separately. Hence a carefully worked out plan is absolutely necessary if we are to obtain the results for which we hope.
The Gifted Child, Mabel E. Mclaughlin
The Gifted Child, Mabel E. Mclaughlin
Bachelors’ Theses
Within the last few years the problem of the education of the "gifted" child has taken on an aspect of very great importance. Numerous investigations have demonstrated the fact that children of the same chronological age exhibit differences of five years or more in mental age, and that even though they may have had the same number of years of schooling, they will be found scattered through several grades in a typical school.
Faraday's Laws Of Electrolysis, M. Aquinas
Faraday's Laws Of Electrolysis, M. Aquinas
Bachelors’ Theses
Physics has no equal, perhaps, in bringing the student to an appreciation of the beauty, the order and the harmony or the universe, and thus drawing the heart and the mind to God whose unbounded powers executed the eternal and marvelous wonders that are all about us.
It is intensely fascinating to take peeps into the "laboratories of God" and wonder what will be the next secret that He will let man in on. It seems as the ages roll by He gradually allows us to share more and more in His secrets or nature; He appears to be slowly …
The Development Of English Grammar From 1750 To 1929, Helen Kathryn Walsh
The Development Of English Grammar From 1750 To 1929, Helen Kathryn Walsh
Bachelors’ Theses
For some time I have been interested in the subject of Grammar. A generation ago, it was considered one of the most important subjects in the elementary schools. But now, grammar is a thing one teaches only incidentally. What has brought this change? What is the situation to-day? What may we hope for in the future? These are some of the questions which need to be answered. The pendulum has indeed swung far out into empty space. It surely must return. Will we be able to stop it midway in its course?
Public Opinion And The Textbooks In History, Agnes Ward
Public Opinion And The Textbooks In History, Agnes Ward
Bachelors’ Theses
Sir Robert Peel called public opinion a great compound of folly, weakness, and prejudice, wrong feeling, right feeling, obstinacy, and newspaper paragraphs. However it is the great force which has been constantly at work through the ages, sometimes helpfully, sometimes harmfully, molding human history. the introduction of the printing press made books, pamphlets, magazines and newspapers a popular medium for its expression. Since the middle of the nineteenth century, when history formally became an integral part of the curriculum of our great public school system, there has been developed a suspicion among individuals and groups that the subject might easily …
The Development Of Character Education, Evelyn M. Shaughnessy
The Development Of Character Education, Evelyn M. Shaughnessy
Bachelors’ Theses
All down through the Christian years of Civilization the ultimate end of all education has been the production of men and women of character and high ideals. Then as the rush and commercialism of modern times swept upon us, this real end of education seemed to be overshadowed in the search for mere information.
Cardinal Newman And Christina Rossetti: Contrasted From A Religious And Literary Point Of View, M. Rosenda Sullivan
Cardinal Newman And Christina Rossetti: Contrasted From A Religious And Literary Point Of View, M. Rosenda Sullivan
Bachelors’ Theses
Literature is a magic wand possessed of the power to transport the dwellers of earth away from this sphere of sordid reality into a fairy palace of ecstatic joy. It is the sesame to a world of pleasure indiscoverable in the actual world. Truly it is, to use the words of a poet, "The touch of a vanished hand And the bound of a voice that is still," for through it as a medium the spirits of men and of races long since turned to dust reinhabit their discarded bodies to appear in life-appareled form and re-act time's changeful drama …
The Conception Of History In Tacitus And Livy, Marguerite Teresa Puerner
The Conception Of History In Tacitus And Livy, Marguerite Teresa Puerner
Bachelors’ Theses
Few writers among the ancients have received more condemnation, more criticism, less whole-heart d praise than Tacitus and Livy, the two most eminent historians of antiquity. By far the greater part of modern criticism is unfavorable to them. Even those who profess to admire them apologize for their faults, excuse them, seek to explain them away, and then very generously admit that, when all has been taken into consideration, their histories are really very fine. But all critics, adverse and favorable alike, are forced to grant that these historians have succeeded in giving us the true picture of Rome, and …
