The Relationship Between Selected Predictor Variables And Successful Completion Of Online Courses, Murray Williams
The Relationship Between Selected Predictor Variables And Successful Completion Of Online Courses, Murray Williams
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between selected variables (age, gender, ethnicity, marital status, financial assistance, student status, number of previous online courses, current online course load) and grade achievement of nontraditional, online students at a selected theological institution. Students who received a grade of A, B, or C were categorized as passing or successfully completing the online courses. Students who received a grade of D, F, W, WD, WP, or WF were categorized as failing or not completing the on line courses. Data for the study was collected from the institution’s enrollment/student database. The participants …
Comparing Leadership Scores Of Collegiate Level Basketball Players And Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (Rotc) Students, Lawrence A. Braue
Comparing Leadership Scores Of Collegiate Level Basketball Players And Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (Rotc) Students, Lawrence A. Braue
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This study examined the differences in the transformational leadership practices of collegiate level basketball teams and students from an Army Reserve Officers Training Program as measured by Kouzes and Posner’s Student Leadership Practices Inventory (SLPI) (2006). The purpose was to determine if ROTC students with formal leadership training obtained higher leadership scores on the SLPI than the basketball players who had not received formal leadership training. The study compared the overall mean scores of ROTC students who had participated in at least one year of formal leadership training and the players from a university men’s and women’s basketball team who …

“There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow.” Ecclesiastes 1:11 (NIV)
In past years revisionist historians have been rewriting the worldview of Christians who have made some of the major discoveries in biology and medicine. It appears that postmodern revisionists are rewriting history to support their agenda of a more “secular” explanation to science. The Judeo-Christian worldview is not politically correct in most universities. This is true in regard to past scientists such as Louis Pasteur who believed in creation. According to reliable, primary …

Microbes And The Days Of Creation, Alan L. Gillen
Microbes And The Days Of Creation, Alan L. Gillen
Faculty Publications and Presentations
The world of germs and microbes has received much attention in recent years. But where do microbes fit into the creation account? Were they created along with the rest of the plants and animals in the first week of creation, or were they created later, after the Fall? These are some questions that creation microbiologists have been asking in recent years. Ongoing research, based on the creation paradigm, appears to provide some answers to these puzzling questions. The answers to these questions are not explicit in Scripture, so the answers cannot be dogmatic. However, a reasonable extrapolation from biological data …
Liberty University's Lawyering Skills Program: Integrating Legal Theory In A Practice-Oriented Curriculum, Mathew D. Staver
Liberty University's Lawyering Skills Program: Integrating Legal Theory In A Practice-Oriented Curriculum, Mathew D. Staver
Faculty Publications and Presentations
Law schools are not preparing lawyers for the practice of law. While modern legal education may teach analytical reasoning, skills training continues to suffer. The lawyering skills program developed by the Liberty University School of Law addresses the need to train lawyers in the practice of law. When seeking to build a top quality law school, Liberty University took seriously the challenge to address the void in legal education, particularly with respect to lawyering skills. The foundational principles of law are infused into the legal curriculum and lawyering skills program. The required substantive law courses are structured to have a …

Developing an effective strategy is an important part of the marketing process. However, the implementation of that strategy is equally important. This paper will focus on a few of the details of the marketing process that help move the product or service from manufacturing to the hands of the consumer. The ability to effectively advertise the product or service and facilitate the delivery of the product or service on a global scale presents unique challenges to the marketing executive. Discussion of these challenges and potential solutions are presented in this paper.

Motor proteins convert chemical energy into work, thereby generating persistent motion of cellular and subcellular objects. The velocities of motor proteins as a function of opposing loads have been previously determined in vitro for single motors. These single molecule "force-velocity curves" have been useful for elucidating motor kinetics and for estimating motor performance under physiological loads due to, for example, the cytoplasmic drag force on transported organelles. Here we report forcevelocity curves for single and multiple motors measured in vivo. Using motion enhanced differential interference contrast (MEDIC) movies of living NT2 (neuron-committed teratocarcinoma) cells at 37°C, three parameters were measured-velocity …
Walter Russell Mead: Power, Terror, Peace, And War For No. 149, Steven Alan Samson
Walter Russell Mead: Power, Terror, Peace, And War For No. 149, Steven Alan Samson
Faculty Publications and Presentations
Walter Russell Mead places this volume (which builds on Special Providence) into the context of the ideological and theological debates that have shaped American history. Like Michael Oakeshott and various conservatives, Mead depicts the contemporary world as the outworking of a “modern temper” or an “Enlightenment project,” two phases of which he focuses on: Fordism (resembling Lewis Mumford’s modern megamachine) and millennial capitalism. Mead’s identification of several competing schools of thought or dispositions in chapter six is somewhat comparable to earlier “models of historical interpretation,” such as Daniel Elazar’s three American “political cultures” and David Hackett Fischer’s four “British folkways” …

Navigating Religious Rights Of Teachers And Students: Establishment, Accommodation, Neutrality, Or Hostility?, Samuel J. Smith
Navigating Religious Rights Of Teachers And Students: Establishment, Accommodation, Neutrality, Or Hostility?, Samuel J. Smith
Christian Perspectives in Education
Despite the notion that First Amendment rights are established, valued, and respected in the United States, there continues to be confusion in public schools that leads to legal conflict over issues associated with freedoms of speech and expression, especially as they relate to religious issues. Navigating the religious rights of teachers and students can be a precarious undertaking, as administrators’ decisions regarding the expression of religious beliefs continue to be highlighted in the media and many times are resolved in the court system at great expense to school districts. The purpose of this article is to clarify religious rights issues …
My Father, Shall I Kill Them? Applying The Combatant/Noncombatant Distinction In The Context Of The War On Terror, Clay R. Finley
My Father, Shall I Kill Them? Applying The Combatant/Noncombatant Distinction In The Context Of The War On Terror, Clay R. Finley
Senior Honors Theses
In the Western tradition, wars were typically fought between uniformed armies on a public battlefield. Even in the Twentieth Century, wars were largely fought between state-sponsored armies, who wore uniforms that made them legitimate targets by distinguishing them from the surrounding civilian population. Civilians, so long as they refrained from military-type actions, were generally considered to be unlawful targets. Though there were borderline cases, and certainly abuses of the system, for the most part the exceptions only reinforced the accepted standard. Spies, for example, as soldiers in civilian clothing, forfeited the protection of the laws of war and were subject …
Modernization Or Cultural Maintenance? – A Look Into The Mayan Struggle, Amy Vernatter
Modernization Or Cultural Maintenance? – A Look Into The Mayan Struggle, Amy Vernatter
Senior Honors Theses
For centuries before the arrival of the Spaniards, the Maya Indians of Central America lived as one of the most advanced civilizations of the New World. In spite of the conflict the Maya have faced because of the Conquest and civil war, they continue to represent the majority of the Guatemalan population and have maintained much of their heritage.
As the ladino world continues to progress around them, however, the Maya are faced with the struggle between cultural maintenance and the need for progress and modernization. The decisions they make on key issues such as language, dress, and lifestyle will …
