The Foundational Self-Determination Skills Experiences Leading To Causal Agency For High School Graduates Who Are Deaf And Hard Of Hearing: A Phenomenological Study, Erin M. Wright
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to understand the foundational development of self-determination skills experiences leading to causal agency for high school graduates who are deaf and hard of hearing. The theory guiding this study was causal agency theory, as introduced by Wehmeyer and Mithaug. The central research question was: What are the foundational development of self-determination skills experiences leading to causal agency for high school graduates who are deaf and hard of hearing? This qualitative study followed a hermeneutical phenomenological approach. The participants included 11 deaf and hard of hearing individuals who graduated high school between 2018–2024. Data …

Motivational Peer Influence On Behavior Change In Undergraduates: A Phenomenological Study, Heather A. Mina
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this phenomenological study was to explore how peer testimonies from former students who successfully completed a Behavior Change Project (BCP) influenced motivation and anxiety in 148 undergraduate health and exercise science students preparing to begin their own BCP. The study was guided by the Transtheoretical Model (Prochaska & Velicer, 1997) and Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory (1986), both of which emphasize self-efficacy, observational learning, and readiness for behavior change. Research was conducted at a public university in western North Carolina with students enrolled in a required health and wellness course. Data collection included pre-BCP surveys, four weeks of …

Impacts Of Early Childhood Trauma On Later Emotional, Behavioral, Educational, And Social Abilities, Stacey Merrill
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Early childhood trauma has a long-lasting impact on individuals’ social interactions, mental health, academic skills, behaviors, and parenting skills for the future generations. Understanding how early interpersonal developmental trauma impacts an individual during adolescence can help providers and caregivers know how to help them become successful students and later adults. Helping individuals early in their development can prevent the cycle of abuse from continuing. Trauma informed care can help bridge the gap between those with and without known traumas. This study consisted of an interpretive phenomenological qualitative design using semi-structured interviews to understand the impact of early trauma on adolescence …

Electro Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Etms) Effects On Pharmacoresistent Sleep Disorders Using A Quantitative Electroencephalogram (Qeeg), Sarah Diane Dean
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The following quantitative correlational study investigated the effects of eTMS on individuals with pharmacoresistant sleep disorders using a qEEG. This research measures the dimensions of anxiety, depression and quality of life (QoL) as it relates to untreated secondary diagnosis. Additionally, this research examines the activity level of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in relation to eTMS treatments. It was found that correlation with anxiety (rs = -.466, p < .001), depression (rs = -0.556, p < 0.001), quality of life (rs = -.436, p < .001), and sleep disturbances (rs = -0.452, p < 0.001), have a statistically significant negative correlation with dlPFC activity level. Finally, it was found that eTMS does have a statistically significant relationship with sleep disturbances as well as anxiety, depression and general quality of life (U (195) = 4647, p = .971). This is important to the field of neuroscience as it provided a more precise form of individualized neuromodulation through the use of a uncommon type of transcranial magnetic stimulation.

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
In this dissertation, I describe the development and validation of the Sense of Belonging in the Workplace Scale (SBWS). A comprehensive, multidisciplinary review of the belonging construct revealed five key components of a sense of belonging in the workplace: (1) accepted/liked, (2) known/understood, (3) purpose/status, (4) respected/voice, and (5) safety/trust. Scale validation began with a review of 40 initial items by a panel of 12 subject matter experts (SMEs). The items were then revised, and a pilot study involving 67 participants was conducted to test these 40 items through exploratory factor analysis and construct validation. The top-performing 25 items were …

Strengthening Communication Between Staff And Health Providers In A Mental Health Setting, Michael Tricoli
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Communication between nursing staff and providers is essential for supporting optimum patient outcomes. Each component of the communication process needs to be clearly defined to create an environment of safety for both patients and caregivers. The SBAR (situation, background, assessment, recommendation) is a nurse-driven protocol that is widely used as a communication and documentation template in health care organizations. This format is currently not being used effectively on the mental health units where the evidence-based project was implemented. Recognizing and reiterating the value of SBAR as a communication tool is necessary when communication deficits are noted. The purpose and scope …

A Delicate Balance: Securing Constitutional Rights Against The Nation’S Most Valuable National Security Tool, Mikayla A. Burton
Liberty University Law Review
Imagine a United States without the Fourth Amendment. The People have no protection against warrantless searches of their homes, belongings, or communications, and the government may invade the privacy of whomever or whatever at its pleasure. This is the exact situation the Founding Fathers designed the Fourth Amendment to protect against. Imagine instead a United States with the Fourth Amendment. The People have protection against warrantless searches of their homes, belongings, and communications, and the government may not invade the privacy of whomever or whatever at its pleasure. But then imagine that these protections are disrupted—jeopardized. Congress passes an act …

United States V. Skrmetti: The Supreme Court’S Opportunity To Protect Minors By Choosing Biological Reality Over Gender Ideology, Rena M. Lindevaldsen
Liberty University Law Review
“Did God really say?” That’s the question the serpent asked Eve in the garden, as she was tempted to turn from the Truth that God had told her about the consequences of eating the fruit from the one specific tree. She and Adam learned that God really did mean what He said. By rejecting God’s wisdom and instruction, they caused sin to enter the world. The same question forms the foundation of the transgender rights movement: did God, who created mankind in His image, really say that He created them male and female? In today’s culture, when a gender-confused child …
A Futurist Exegesis Of Matthew 24:1-42, Kenneth Garcia
A Futurist Exegesis Of Matthew 24:1-42, Kenneth Garcia
Masters Theses
This thesis explores a Futurist exegesis of Matthew 24:1-42, emphasizing its prophetic fulfillment in future events rather than historical or allegorical interpretations. It critiques Preterist and Historicist views, arguing that key elements—including the abomination of desolation, the great tribulation, and the second coming of Christ—remain unfulfilled. By analyzing the text in its historical, grammatical, and theological context, and correlating it with Daniel’s visions and Revelation, this study defends the position that Jesus’ discourse predicts end-times events such as the rise of the Antichrist, the rebuilding of the third temple, and global tribulation. This work affirms the hope of Christ’s imminent …

The Shared Roots And Divergent Paths Of African American Spirituals And Afro-Caribbean Music, Jana Jones
Masters Theses
The resilient perseverance of African culture manifested itself in the music of the diasporic communities of the transatlantic slave trade. This slave trade led slaves to two main areas: North America and the Caribbean. While there were common roots and shared experience of slavery that influenced similar growing musical traditions of African American and Afro-Caribbean music such as rhythmic and melodic elements, over time, their music evolved along distinct paths due to differing social, political and religious contexts. Through a comparative study of lyrical themes, melodic patterns, rhythmic characteristics and cultural functions, this research traces the influence of the African …

Waffles And Spaghetti: The Effects Of Cognitive Processing Methods On Team Performance And Communication, Jonah Daniel Browning
Masters Theses
The goal of this thesis is to shed light on a practical method for resolving conflicts in team environments that stem from miscommunications brought on by differing cognitive processes. Our brains use different cognitive processing techniques to make sense of and explore the vast amount of information the world presents them on a daily, even hourly basis. Each person has their own thinking style which influences how teams collaborate and problem solve. However, miscommunication can often arise when individuals fail to recognize and adapt to the varying processing methods, which can lead to frustration and inefficiency.

The Development Of Cosmological Theories And Their Correlation With Biblical Scripture In Ancient Times, Margaret A. Burcie
The Development Of Cosmological Theories And Their Correlation With Biblical Scripture In Ancient Times, Margaret A. Burcie
Masters Theses
Agnostics and astronomical researchers like Harlow Shapley's contributions to cosmology, specifically his recalibration of the Milky Way and the discovery of its true structure and size, marked an important moment in individuals’ understanding of the universe.”1 These theorists have redefined humanity's place in the cosmos by accentuating empirical observations over religious theories, laying the groundwork for modern cosmology while simultaneously reigniting the age-old debate about the universe's origin. “Theories may crumble, but good observations never fade,”2 accentuate the lifelong importance of scientific research.
This paper focuses on the relationship between the development of cosmological theories and biblical interpretations; these will …
Little Disciples: Providing At Home Christian Educational Resources To Parents For Their Children’S Spiritual Growth, Samantha Hatfield
Little Disciples: Providing At Home Christian Educational Resources To Parents For Their Children’S Spiritual Growth, Samantha Hatfield
Masters Theses
It has always been difficult to keep young people attending church after they reach the freedom of adulthood, but their absence continued to grow with each generation. It is hard to prove whether their decline in attendance is due to lack of spiritual formation in younger years or just the changing of the times is hard to prove, but it can be inferred that more training and honest conversations in earlier years would positively affect this statistic as well as the spiritual wellbeing of future generations. Since the most formative years of children based on brain development are between ages …
