In this essay, Huang Du, s Beijing-based critic and curator, argues that the work "Impermanence" (1996) represents the instability Zhu Jinshi experiences as a Chinese artist working in Berlin in the late 1980s. Huang focuses on the materiality of the work to pull his critical analysis. According to the critic, the use of Chinese traditional rice paper in the work evokes a relationship between "systematic cyclicity, textuality, material installation, and a return to nature". Many Stories, One Shape: Narrative Convergence In Ai-Generated Fiction, Marisol Hernandez Brito
IPHS 484: Senior Seminar
Frontier large language models (LLMs) generate fluent outlines but often converge on repetitive structural templates. This exploratory study examined inter-model diversity in thriller novel outlines produced by five LLMs (ChatGPT-5(5.1), Grok-4, Gemini-2.5 Flash, DeepSeek-v3, Claude Sonnet-4.5) under baseline and enhanced prompting conditions (N=50 outlines). Blind AI evaluations revealed moderate inter-model diversity (baseline mean 64.45%; enhanced 58.89%), declining relative to intra-model baselines and between phases, particularly in Protagonist and Plot dimensions. Quantitative and qualitative analysis identified phase-specific convergence: a "forensic procedural" template (analytical female protagonists, corporate conspiracies, Quest/Monster arcs) under the baseline prompt, shifting to a "domestic psychological thriller" template (uniform …

Lost In Transcreation: Llm Performance In Multicultural Creative Work, Murathan Kocaman

This study benchmarks four leading LLMs (GPT-5.2, Claude 4.5, Gemini 3, and Grok-4) on cross-cultural advertising transcreation, using Turkish as a particularly revealing test case. Each model generated Turkish billboard taglines for three American brands (Hinge, Manscaped, and Oatly) under real-world constraints, and all outputs were scored using the Levent Index, a 100-point framework I created by synthesizing transcreation best practices with the Turkish linguistic instincts I developed growing up in Istanbul. The Index measures Linguistic Soul (40%), Cultural Resonance (40%), and Structural Flow (20%), and the complete rubric is available upon request. Gemini 3 dominated performance, yet no model …

We examine how three newspapers in different languages (New York Times in English, Sözcü in Turkish, and NurKZ in Russian) frame the same Syria Trump meeting using aspect based sentiment analysis. Each article was segmented into sentences (NYT 67, NurKZ 40, Sözcü 26), with Turkish and Russian sentences translated into English while preserving the original text for reference. We applied an LLM based ABSA labeler constrained to a fixed set of predefined aspects, allowing us to compare sentiment at the level of specific themes rather than overall tone. This project explores the feasibility of using a Large Language Model (LLM) to provide technical ballet critiques, a task traditionally reliant on oral tradition and person-toperson instruction. To test accuracy, current-day ballet technical standards were applied to clips of Leslie Caron in the 1951 film An American in Paris. Seven clips of classical ballet were analyzed by both the researcher (a dancer with 15 years of pre-professional training) and Gemini. Using a structured, technique-focused prompt, the LLM was tasked with providing technical corrections. Disagreement Among Ai Models As A Metric Of Economic Uncertainty: Testing Ai Disagreement Against Traditional Uncertainty Metrics, Peter Dunson, Andre Mccloud, Gwen Eisenbeis

This study proposes an AI-based economic uncertainty metric built from disagreement among three frontier large language models (Claude, Google Gemini, and ChatGPT) that score daily market sentiment across five dimensions: equities, inflation, labor, consumer confidence, and forward guidance. We quantify both across-model and within-model disagreement using cosine distance between 5-dimensional sentiment vectors and assess whether these disagreement measures track or relate to established uncertainty benchmarks (VIX, EPU, and the Citi Economic Surprise Index). Results suggested that across-model disagreement moved more closely with new and policy-based uncertainty than with option-implied volatility, as it was strongly positively correlated with the Economic Policy …
