Knowledge Management: A Tripartite Conceptual Framework For Career And Technical Teacher Educators, Hae-Young Lee, Gene L. Roth

Journal of STEM Teacher Education

Researchers and practitioners consider knowledge management to be a strategic intervention that integrates organizational resources such as technologies and human resources. This conceptual paper focuses on the foundational contributions of economics, sociology, and psychology to knowledge management. Select theories from each foundational area are illustrated. Links are made to the research and practice of career and technical teacher educators. Suggestions for further research include examining the inter-connective links of these foundational areas as a means to help career and technical teacher educators identify the value they add to their broader organizational work contexts.

Differences Lead To Differences: Diversity And Income Inequality Across Countries, Michael Hotard Jun 2008

Differences Lead To Differences: Diversity And Income Inequality Across Countries, Michael Hotard

Master's Theses - Economics

This paper will test the relationship between income inequality and ethnic heterogeneity. Although previous research has used ethno-linguistic fractionalization as a control variable in inequality regressions, no research has focused primarily on an alternative measure of heterogeneity – polarization. Using Gini coefficients from the from the World Income Inequality Database and polarization data from Montalvo and Reynal-Querol (2005b), a pooled OLS regression is run using data from 58 countries with 205 total observations. The results of these regressions suggest that ethnic polarization does have a positive effect on income inequality, even controlling for country characteristics and allowing for regional differences.

The Other Side Of Metamorphosis: An Exploratory Study Of How Partners Of Transsexuals Experience Transition, Kara Harvey

Master's Theses - Sociology and Anthropology

Interest in, and research within, transgender studies has exploded in recent years. The majority of the research, however, has focused primarily on the experience of transsexuals1 themselves. Romantic partners of transsexuals, though, have remained unexplored within the literature. Details of their experiences in the romantic relationship and during their partners’ transitions have yet to be investigated within scholarly research.

Mainstream And Alternative News In Seattle: A Comparative Media Frame Analysis Of Wto Protest Coverage, Richard Feffer S. Jan 2008

Mainstream And Alternative News In Seattle: A Comparative Media Frame Analysis Of Wto Protest Coverage, Richard Feffer S.

Master's Theses - Sociology and Anthropology

Seattle was the site of one of the largest protests in recent American history. In 1999, tens of thousands of demonstrators representing a multitude of causes gathered in downtown Seattle to protest the meetings of the World Trade Organization and the larger issue of globalization. While many of the protest events consisted of peaceful marches and demonstrations with isolated incidents of violence, research on the media coverage of these events found that the mainstream media often minimized the contributions of the protesters, portrayed them as violent and disruptive, and showed support for the ability of the police to maintain order. …
