Heldring, entitled, "Eenige Gedachten Over Colonisatie" [Some Thoughts About Colonization] which was published in De Reformatie, Tijdschrift ter Bevordering van Gods Koningrijk in Nederland, 3de Serie, IIde Deel, Amsterdam: Hoogkamer & Compe, 1846, pp. 260-264. The author favors the idea of emigration to America. The poor have better prospects there than in the Netherlands. The author displays a strong social consciousness.

In a letter to Robert Stuart, Acting Superintendent of Indian Affairs, Rev. George N. Smith reported that Mary Ann Willard who interpreted for Smith for the past three years has gone to the Grand Haven area. "The progress of the Indians the past year has, in respect to civilization, been indeed flattering; in their general manners and moral conduct, they have made great advances." Several Indians are developing farms nicely. Two log houses have been built. The children are in school until maple sugaring time. Of the 30 scholars, ages range from four to thirty.

V.R. also caught cold during his traveling recently. He also mentions his anxiety about anticipated troubles but does not say what they are. V.R. questions Budding on his thoughts about vaccination for smallpox. V.R. has noticed that those who have been vaccinated have a lighter case of smallpox. A letter of Albertus C. Van Raalte to his wife, Christina de Moen Van Raalte, stating that he got to Hellendoorn and then went on to Rijssen. On Saturday he preached at Enteren. He preached Sunday at a hamlet south of Rijssen. Today, Monday, he left for Deventer. Since she may be writing him, she should address the letter to Egbertus ten Tooren in Ommen who would know where to forward her letter.

The title of the document is Aktevan Afscheiding van het Nederlandsch Hervormd Kerkgenootschap den 14 en October 1834 te Ulrum geteekend benevens de notulen van de Eerste Kerkeraadsvergadering der Afgescheidenen. A beautifully handwritten document which serves as a cover page is signed by H(ellenius) de Cock, Kampen, April 1868. The English document is a report by alderman of Ulnun, T.K.
