Emmett Oliver's life story offers clear evidence that human resilience originates in a combination of many aspects of personality traits, abilities and interests, and supportive social relationships. Living in an era when many of his Native peers did not develop their talents or find a meaningful place in their rapidly changing cultures, Emmett pursued an education. He became a teacher, a Coast Guard Commander, a counselor, and an educational policy maker. His achievements severed to bolster his motivation when he felt drawn to a less challenging work.

If the Convention and Visitors Bureau’s (CVB’s) and Sport Event Planners of smaller cities and towns were able to assess the trends of their youth soccer tourists, they might be in a better position to attract and retain these tourists as well as other tourists in other sports, large events or small. The purpose of this study was to examine where Virginia youth soccer participants, their family, and friends dine, lodge, entertain, recreate, and spend their free time when not playing soccer. Savannah Hockey Classic: An Evaluation Of Event Personality And Economic Impact, Windy Dees Ph.D., Todd Hall Ph.D.

In 2009, the Savannah Sports Council hosted its 11th annual Savannah Hockey Classic. In order to assist the future marketing of this event, a study was undertaken to assist the Savannah Sports Council in 3 major ways: (1) To obtain a consumer profile of spectators, (2) to explore the economic impact of the event on the city of Savannah, and (3) to discover the perceived personality of the event (assist in sponsor recruitment). Host Acculturation Orientation: Some Preliminary Impressions Of The French Students On Ethnic Minority Groups In Montpellier, S. France, Jyoti Verma
Papers from the International Association for Cross-Cultural Psychology Conferences
The objective was to study the host acculturation orientation of a sample of 100 French students of a S. France University. For this purpose a nine-items Host Acculturation Scale was used. Observations gave the impression that the students considered it significantly ‘more important’ that the immigrants maintained their heritage culture in their homes rather than doing so in general or at the workplace. Furthermore, it was considered only ‘partially important’ that the immigrants adopted the French norms, values and customs in general and at the workplace, and ‘not important at all’ that they did so in their homes. Social Media Marketing Program For Grand Rapids Symphony, Peter Wolfgram
Honors Projects
According Grand Rapids Symphony Marketing Manager Jacalyn Wood, it is the Symphony’s goal to build relationships that lead to attendance at Symphony events (personal communication, April 7, 2011). This marketing plan will use the Symphony’s current target audience for its current Facebook Page to address this goal. It will include men and women of all ages living in West Michigan. Women aged 35-65 will be a sub-target. This audience will be the same for all the relationship-building activities outlined in the following program, even those outside of Facebook.
