An Irish immigrant who came to Savannah in about 1851, Laurence Dunn quickly established himself in financial and community affairs. His business interests included real estate, a grocery store and saloon, and some involvement with the shipping industry. Mr. Dunn married Catherine Mitchell in 1854 and together they had five or six children, three of whom lived to maturity. He enlisted to serve in the Con federate Army in 1862. Catherine M. Dunn died in late 1889 and Mr. Dunn survived her by five years, dying in January, 1895. The Dunn descendants were and are active members of the Savannah …

Daniel Gugel or (Gugie) was born on November 1, 1766, and died on April 10, 1832. He was the eight child out of nine. His parents, Anna Maria and John Christopher Gugel, Sr., were first generation Salzburgers. They settled at Ebenezer, Georgia around 1750. There is no information on the childhood of Daniel. During his adult life, Daniel resided in Savannah, Georgia. In Savannah, he owned several pieces :of property; earned his living as a blacksmith; belonged to The Lutheran Church of the Ascension; and had a wife named Maryann.

William Leigh was born in Bulloch County Georgia about December 29 1804 . He was a merchant by trade dealing in wood and groceries with his partner Jonah Bird. Little is known of his life before the early 1830's. He married Sarah Shipman of New Jersey . March 2 1831. They were married by Stephen A. Mealy pastor of the Lutheran Church. Patrick B. Connelly was born in 1802. From information gathered. It seems that in a few short years he became a prosperous farmer in the Jefferson County area of Georgia. Mr. Connelly was a major slave owner throughout his lifetime.

Savannah Biographies
Laurence Connell immigrated from Ireland and arrived in Savannah in 1837. He was a shopkeeper and held a number of public offices, both elective and appointive. Constable, Magistrate or Justice of the Peace, Port Harden, Notary, member of the Board of Health and Chief Pailiff of the County Court. Indications are that he left Savannah in 1890. There is no record of any living descendants.
