Inpatient And Outpatient Infection As A Trigger Of Cardiovascular Disease: The Aric Study, Logan Cowan, Pamela L. Lutsey, James S. Pankow, Kunihiro Matsushita, Junichi Ishigami, Kamakshi Lakshminarayan

Background
Acute infections are known cardiovascular disease (CVD) triggers, but little is known regarding how CVD risk varies following inpatient versus outpatient infections. We hypothesized that in‐ and outpatient infections are associated with CVD risk and that the association is stronger for inpatient infections.
Methods and Results
Coronary heart disease (CHD) and ischemic stroke cases were identified and adjudicated in the ARIC (Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study). Hospital discharge diagnosis codes and Medicare claims data were used to identify infections diagnosed in in‐ and outpatient settings. Having Pride In Your Work: How To Serve Lgbt Older Adults Better, James Moorhead Jr.

Common misconceptions about older adults include that all older adults are heterosexual. This is merely a myth. Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) older adults live in all states and territories of the United States and all parts of Georgia, from the rolling mountains in the north to the humid swamps of the south. Understanding the needs of this unique population is critical for gerontologists as the Baby Boomer generation ages, who tend to be more “out” and self-identify with pride. More importantly, LGBT older adults have been accessing needed services, often returning to the proverbial closet (Maddox, 2010). This …

The Lodge at Bethany has participated in two unique but intricately interwoven campaigns to expand the educational opportunities of the Community and the Residents’ Families that we serve: The Virtual Dementia Tour (VDT®) is the original and ground-breaking, evidence-based and scientifically proven method of building a greater understanding of dementia through the use of patented sensory tools and instruction based on research conducted by P.K.
