Leadership Attitudes And Job Satisfaction In Physical Therapy Clinical Education, Elizabeth Anne Weekley Thompson

College of Graduate Studies: Theses & Dissertations (1964–2006)

The need for examination of leadership and job satisfaction in physical therapy clinical education created the following research problem: is there a relationship between leadership attitudes, age, race, sex, entry level degree, highest educational degree, cumulative years of patient care and clinical teaching, cumulative years as an Academic or Center Coordinator, cumulative years of clinical practice, and job satisfaction for the Academic and Center Coordinators of Clinical Education? Dimensions Of Capacity For Shared Decision Making, Cheryl Grayson Reynolds Jan 1997

Dimensions Of Capacity For Shared Decision Making, Cheryl Grayson Reynolds

College of Graduate Studies: Theses & Dissertations (1964–2006)

This study was based on the rationale that no school district should design or implement a restructuring or reform initiative such as shared decision making (SDM) without a careful examination of the existing level of all the interrelated dimensions of restructuring and reform in each school. A school's capacity is critical for successful reform; therefore, if policy makers are to design successful policies, they must pay attention to the multiple dimensions of capacity in a school's climate.

Change Theory In The Middle: An Ethnohistory Of A Rural Georgia Middle School, Jody Jones Woodrum Jan 1996

Change Theory In The Middle: An Ethnohistory Of A Rural Georgia Middle School, Jody Jones Woodrum

College of Graduate Studies: Theses & Dissertations (1964–2006)

This study provided an analytic description of the transition of one rural Georgia school as its staff sought to embrace the middle school concept. Development of such a description required that the researcher examine the school through the filter or sieve of change theory and in an holistic manner, using techniques appropriate to ethnohistorical, qualitative research. Specifically, the description spanned an eighteen-year, bounded period and used participant observation, individual and group interviews, and documentation to uncover the meaning participants in the school attached to the changes.

While Georgia provided an incentive grant to encourage eligible schools to move toward the …

Student And Teacher Effects Of Elementary School Tracking: An Examination Of A Rural Georgia School District, David L. Strickland

College of Graduate Studies: Theses & Dissertations (1964–2006)

This study examines the effects of homogeneous and heterogeneous ability grouping on teacher and student performance within three elementary schools in a rural Georgia school district. Research methodologies included an analyses of standardized achievement test scores, a teacher questionnaire, and individual interviews with teachers. The analyses of standardized test scores revealed that 2nd grade students who were heterogeneously grouped performed significantly better on math and verbal skills than 2nd grade students who were homogeneously grouped. Teacher questionnaire responses did not reveal significant differences between homogeneous and heterogeneous years in student self-esteem, discipline, or classroom management. However, teachers who had formerly …
