The Promise Of Artificial Intelligence And Potential Impact On The Sales Function, Richard E. Plank, Pamela M. Peterson
The Promise Of Artificial Intelligence And Potential Impact On The Sales Function, Richard E. Plank, Pamela M. Peterson
AMTP Proceedings 2020
After a great deal of press and promise, artificial intelligence is beginning to make inroads in the sales function. In this paper, we follow on United Kingdom-based company called CloudApps and the firm's development of an artificial intelligence solution to address the issues inherent in the management of the sales pipeline. We then outline some of the other potential applications using artificial intelligence within an organizations' sales function.

Techy, Classy, And Social: Electric Vehicles And Brand Communication On Twitter, Marilena Olguta (Olga) Vilceanu, Kailey Bertelson, Rhianna Davis
AMTP Proceedings 2020
This study explored brand communication and audience engagement metrics for automakers selling electrified vehicle models in the U.S. The dataset included all Twitter communication from 27 major brand accounts during a one-year period (July 2018 through June 2019). Data analysis focused on communication volume, explicit saturation, and discourse clustering around key themes and variables. The study found abysmal amounts of EV-category explicit terminology for all brands, particularly so for U.S. accounts. Audience engagement was stronger for brands that pulled EVs into the lifestyle of their targets, than for brands pushing normative messages about environmental concerns.

Georgia Southern University is well-positioned to serve the local region and global community by engaging in public impact research. Public impact research matches community (broadly defined) needs with University resources to help solve the most pressing societal problems. Positioning Georgia Southern University as a public impact research institution aligns well with its recently established Strategic Plan (2019-2024), which calls for building research infrastructure to support interdisciplinary collaborations, better engage within our local, regional, and global communities, and build mutually beneficial partnerships. To move the University in this direction, the Vice Provost for Research, Dr. Chris Curtis, initiated the …

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic prompted universities across the United States to close campuses in Spring 2020. Universities are deliberating whether, when, and how they should resume in-person instruction in Fall 2020. In this essay, we discuss some practical considerations for the use of 2 potentially useful control strategies based on testing: (1) severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing followed by case-patient isolation and quarantine of close contacts, and (2) serological testing followed by an “immune shield” approach, that is, low social distancing requirements for seropositive persons. The isolation of case-patients and …

A Few Things You Should Know This Week (2020-2023)
- The new CARES Center is now operational online, via phone and via the GS mobile app.
- Georgia Southern Health Services is ready and currently providing testing for students.
- We are aware that many parents of school-aged children are dealing with unique decisions and circumstances right now
- Face-coverings are to be worn inside and outside where six feet social distancing may not always be possible.
- If “enforcement” of the face-coverings requirement is necessary, it should be carried out with civility and respect
Empirical Evidence Of The Marketing And Corporate Political Activity Interface In Firm Strategy, Jessica Zeiss
Empirical Evidence Of The Marketing And Corporate Political Activity Interface In Firm Strategy, Jessica Zeiss
AMTP Proceedings 2020
This qualitative research seeks to shed light on the manner in which marketing and corporate political activity (CPA) interface through senior-level managers acting as key informants. Relying on transcendental phenomenology (n = 41) and grounded theory (n = 402) methods, respectively, Study One uncovers a set of activities difficult to distinguish as either marketing or politics, i.e., legitimacy branding, with Study Two invalidated legitimacy branding as a traditional political strategy. Legitimacy branding’s key characteristics –1) branded reputations, 2) nonmarket targets, 3) for proactive control – position it as marketing-based CPA. While such strategy is generally consistent with previous findings, they …
Leveraging Communities Of Practice To Build Integrated Professional Learning Communities For Stem Education, Amanda L. Glaze
Leveraging Communities Of Practice To Build Integrated Professional Learning Communities For Stem Education, Amanda L. Glaze
Middle Grades & Secondary Education: Faculty Publications
In the modern educational era, there is an increasing focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. Innovation and workforce preparation play a large role in the push to increase scientific literacy, thinking skills and high-skilled personnel. However, there are ongoing issues with reforming education to meet these goals as well as the recruitment and retention of students in these fields. STEM and the various other iterations in which it is found, represents a challenge in education, as there are often many intersecting cultures, epistemologies, practices and expectations that are unique to each of the represented fields. As a …

Background: Sickle cell disease (SCD) is an autosomal recessive blood disorder affecting approximately 100,000 Americans and 3.1 million people globally. The scarcity of relevant knowledge and experience with rare diseases creates a unique need for cooperation and infrastructure to overcome challenges in translating basic research advances into clinical advances. Despite registry initiatives in SCD, the unavailability of descriptions of the selection process and copies of final data collection tools, coupled with incomplete representation of the SCD population hampers further research progress. This manuscript describes the SCDIC (Sickle Cell Disease Implementation Consortium) Registry development and makes the SCDIC Registry baseline …
