An Exploration Of Self-Concept And Life Satisfaction Of Single Women, Stacey Lynn Piatkowski

This communication study explores the relationship between self-concept and life satisfaction of single women and examines, through the use of interviews, how these two factors are connected. This study aims to gain perspective of why women remain single, what pressures single women face, and how a woman’s life satisfaction and self-concept are affected by being single. Results showed that women remain single for a variety of reasons and while women feel pressure from family, friends, and media about their singlehood, the majority of the pressure is internal and indicated that women need a romantic relationship that will eventually lead to …

I, like most of my family, never valued pictures, documents and artifacts from the past. Whether they were placed in a cheap photo album or simply cast away in a box, their value went unknown. This project is an attempt to make up for lost time by archiving. Archiving pertains to the preserving and storing of documents or records relating to the activities, business dealings, etc., of a person, family, corporation, association, community, or nation (Archiving, 2012). As I chronicled the lives of my wife and me, many memories were re-discovered. I inserted valuable photos, documents and personal correspondence. This …

Due to stigma and lack of education, mental health agencies are often the first to receive budget cuts. After conducting research on mental health policy and policy advocacy, the researcher identified an opportunity for social work practitioners to improve mental health policy advocacy, based upon their unique perspective to witness the direct impact of policies on this population. This in-depth literature review encompassed the origins of mental health advocacy, an overview of the mental health system in the United States, barriers to effective service, and best practices in the field of social work. A Comparative Analysis Of Genocidal Rape In Rwanda And The Former Yugoslavia: Implications For The Future, Jessica Kruger

This work examines the genocidal rape policies that occurred in the Rwandan and former Yugoslavian conflicts. Traditionally, rape has been considered an unfortunate yet inescapable consequence of war. In the early 1990s, the Hutu and Serbian regimes developed a new tactic and utilized rape as a genocidal weapon. Following a comparative analysis framework, the present study will examine the similarities and differences of the genocidal rape in Rwanda and the former Yugoslavia. Five points of comparison were established: perpetrators, victims, global economics, social disorder, and militias. The Study Of The Prevalence Of Desnos Symptoms In Traumatized Children, Margot Jagodzinski

This qualitative study is grounded in the diagnosis of Disorders of Extreme Stress - Not Otherwise Specified (DESNOS). This diagnosis is under review to appear as a subcategory of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the upcoming DSM-V. This study evaluates DESNOS symptoms exhibited in children who have experienced interpersonal traumatic events, specifically domestic violence or sexual abuse. Outcomes suggest that children indeed display characteristics of DESNOS soon after an interpersonal trauma. The findings suggest a need for more research on techniques and treatments that can be used to help children exhibiting symptoms of DESNOS.
