A Proposal For The Development Of A Program Of The Use Of Microcomputers In The Red Hill School District, Paul William Tougaw
A Proposal For The Development Of A Program Of The Use Of Microcomputers In The Red Hill School District, Paul William Tougaw
Masters Theses
In this study the current uses of microcomputers in the classroom were explored through a review of the literature and personal interviews with educators, businessmen, and computer specialists. The current innovations are examined in an effort to anticipate the technical world that students will face in the future. One must anticipate what the future needs will be to develop a program that will help the students to become contributing members of society. This study was specifically conducted to make recommendations for the uses of microcomputers in the Red Hill school district.
The report focuses on the different areas of the …

A Cytomorphological Study Of Podospora Curvicolla (Winter) Niessl, Stephen F. Tomasino
A Cytomorphological Study Of Podospora Curvicolla (Winter) Niessl, Stephen F. Tomasino
Masters Theses
A cytomorphological study was performed on Podospora curvicolla, a saprophytic Pyrenomycete. Major emphasis was placed on three important features: (I) ascocarp formation and development, (II) centrum structure and (III) ascus development and structure. A comparison with other studies of Podospora and with a genus generally considered closely related, Sordaria, was made to this present study of P. curvicolla.
Initial perithecial formation in P. curvicolla is indicated by a spherical mass of hyphae which may include filaments from many vegetative hyphae, but no apparent ascogonia or antheridia were observed. As the young perithecium matures in P. curvicolla, …
Determination Of Shorthand Enrollments And Homework Procedures In East-Central Illinois High Schools, Nancy Louise Rippy
Determination Of Shorthand Enrollments And Homework Procedures In East-Central Illinois High Schools, Nancy Louise Rippy
Masters Theses
This study was an attempt to determine shorthand enrollment trends and homework procedures being utilized in secondary schools in the East-Central Illinois area. The study was conducted through a questionnaire at Eastern Illinois University, Charleston, Illinois, during the fall semester, 1981.
The survey instrument was given to a shorthand instructor in each high school in the East-Central Illinois area and consisted of five sections. The first section pertained to the instructors' teaching experience. The second section included information about each school's shorthand program. The third section requested information about current shorthand enrollments while the fourth section was centered around teaching …
The Interaction Of R. Leguminosarum 128c53 With Pea Root Proteins And A Comparison Of The Surface Polysaccharide With A Mutant Defective In Nodulation, Ru-Po Lee
Masters Theses
The Rhizobium extracellular polysaccharides (EPS) and lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are implicated in the symbiotic process. The interaction between host root protein fractions and symbiont EPS-polyacrylamide affinity support has been investigated. Ten percent root protein fractions had been observed to bind to the affinity support. The compositions of the polysaccharides from the parent R. leguminosarum and its Exo-1 mutant have also been compared. The Exo-1 mutant produces diminished amount of EPS and does not nodulate the host pea roots. Five kinds of polysaccharides from the parent were obtained: EPS, capsule polysaccharides (CPS I) washed from the bacteria with saline solution, …
An Analysis Of The Casey School District's School-Community Relations Program, Juanita E. Worden Fribley
An Analysis Of The Casey School District's School-Community Relations Program, Juanita E. Worden Fribley
Masters Theses
Communication with the public is an essential facet of any school-community relations program. This study examines both external and internal communication methods. Before a school district can have a purposeful school-community relations program, the internal communication of the school personnel needs to be working effectively.
The survey used for this field experience was developed by the writer to determine the effectiveness of the Casey School District's school-community relations program. This telephone survey consists of eleven questions concerning an awareness of school news. One hundred people were randomly called and asked to respond to the survey.
The Casey School District utilizes …
A Comparison Of The Surface Polysaccharides Of Rhizobium Trifolii Su843 With Its Genetically Altered Mutant, 8002, Which Is Defective At Root Hair Curling (Hac-), Elroy Alfredo Turnbull
A Comparison Of The Surface Polysaccharides Of Rhizobium Trifolii Su843 With Its Genetically Altered Mutant, 8002, Which Is Defective At Root Hair Curling (Hac-), Elroy Alfredo Turnbull
Masters Theses
Bacteria of the genus Rhizobium are capable of forming a complex nitrogen fixing (fix+) symbiotic association with leguminous plants. The surface polysaccharides are believed to be essential in the symbiotic process. The surface polysaccharides of a genetically altered Rhizobium trifolii mutant, 8002--which does not cause root hair curling (HAC-), forms no nodules (Nod-) nor fixes nitrogen (Fix-)--is compared with its parent, SU843, which causes root hair curling (HAC+), forms nodules (Nod+), and fixes nitrogen (Fix+). Three types of surface polysaccharides--extracellular polysaccharide(s) (EPS), capsular polysaccharide(s) (CPS), and …

Referendum Issue: An Analysis Of Procedures Used In Past Issues And An Examination Of Procedures Unit Seven Schools May Utilize To Correct Building Problems In The Future, Charles L. Mcchesney
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study is threefold: first, to examine and participate in the 1981 campaign for passage of a building referendum in Tolono Unit Seven Schools and to record the various roles of personnel and groups in the campaign; second, to analyze why the referendum failed by using the 1980 bond issue campaign and research of other successful school districts' building referendums for comparisons; and third, to examine alternatives for a possible third referendum by doing a cost analysis for renovation of each elementary school building versus construction of a new building.
The school board failed to pass a …

A Study Of Junior High Student Awareness Of Guidance Services In Taiwan, The Republic Of China, Chia-Nan Tai
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study was to investigate the student awareness of the guidance services in junior high schools in Taiwan. Specifically, it was anticipated that the study findings would provide a basis to generate guidelines for developing a realistic guidance program based on a better understanding of students for whom the service is offered.
A questionnaire composed of 26 items was designed to investigate attitudes toward the current guidance services from 1,664 respondents who were junior high students in Kaohsiung Metropolis, Taiwan, the Republic of China in 1981. Besides total students, the attitudes of the various grade levels and …
A Room Of One's Own: The Women's Room, Lou Ellen Crawford
A Room Of One's Own: The Women's Room, Lou Ellen Crawford
Masters Theses
The recent resurgence of feminism has been accompanied by the development of feminist fiction. Identifying those characteristics by which feminist fiction adds to the American novel a new and valid perspective, feminist criticism has also flourished. Feminist critics agree that fiction with a new perspective demands critical evaluation from that same perspective; and Cheri Register provides a concise, thorough list of five elements which comprise effective feminist fiction. Of Register's five criteria, Carol Heilbrun stresses the equalizing, conciliatory influence of androgyny. Recent feminist authors have written many novels which perform one or more of the functions prescribed by Register. Three …
