Perception Of Women Public School Superintendents In Five Southeastern States (Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina), Peace U. Anyaocha
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The problem of the study was to determine the perceived leadership behavior of female superintendents as compared to male superintendents. An instrument was constructed from American Association of Secondary Administrators' recommendations for superior performance of school administrators and subsequently validated. A demographic data sheet accompanied the survey instrument. The subjects were selected from southern states in which there were more than five women superintendents officially listed by the State Board of Education. The states included Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The survey instrument was forwarded to 350 subjects; 172 subjects responded from the five states. The sample …

A Comparison Of Classroom Teacher Attitudes Toward Mainstreaming (North Carolina, Exceptional Children), Phyllis E. Tallent
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The problem of this study was to determine if a difference existed between selected classroom teachers' attitudes toward mainstreaming. The Attitudes Toward Mainstreaming Scale (ATMS) was the instrument selected as appropriate for the study. Permission was obtained from Joan Berryman at the University of Georgia, Athens, to reproduce and administer the ATMS. A stratified random sample was conducted as representative of the total population of classroom teachers in North Carolina. A demographic data sheet and the ATMS were mailed to 280 classroom teachers. A 75% return was obtained. The data sheet asked for the sex, present level of teaching position, …

A Study Comparing The Self-Concept Scores Between Anglo And Chicano Children In The Canutillo, Texas School District, Glen M. Kraig
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The problem of this study was to determine if differences exist in the self-concept scores between Anglo children and Chicano children. A secondary problem was to determine the level of correlation between self concept scores and academic averages. The Martinek-Zaichkowsky Self Concept Scale for Children was used to determine self concept scores and grade point averages reported by the students' classroom teachers were used for the academic averages. The findings of the study warranted the following conclusions: (1) Anglo, first grade children have a significantly higher total self concept than do Chicano, first grade children. Spatial Perception As A Predictor Of Success In Higher Mathematics, Lou A. Rolen
Spatial Perception As A Predictor Of Success In Higher Mathematics, Lou A. Rolen
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The problem of this study was to determine if spatial perception could be a predictor of success in higher mathematics. This study first showed correlations of the results of three spatial perception tests taken by high-school students with their final geometry grades. Structure of the Intellect-Learning Ability subtests CFS (cognition of figural systems) and CFT (cognition of figural transformations), as well as Differential Aptitude Tests-Space Relations subtest, were used. Correlations were then computed for high-school geometery grades with calculus I grades. Geometry thus was used as a bridge between spatial perception and calculus performance. Secondly, the investigator explored any difference …
