A STUDY OF THE FORMATION OF A MISSION STUDY TASK FORCEAS IT RELATES TO THE PLANNING PROCESSOF A CONGREGATION
The purpose of this project is to form a Mission Study Task Force to gather suitable information for the Planning Committee. The group used statistical reports, interviews, and surveys with the theological framework of kairos, God’s decisive time, to present pertinent data for the congregation's plans. The data, together with the concept of kairos, motivated the Planning Committee to design challenging goals. The members of the Task Force grew in their appreciation of the church's opportunities for mission; however, the members …
The Relationship Between Graduate Theological Education And The Worldwide Mission Of The Church, William J. Danker
The Relationship Between Graduate Theological Education And The Worldwide Mission Of The Church, William J. Danker
Concordia Theological Monthly
In spite of a desk piled high with other work, this writer could not find it in his heart to refuse an editor requesting an essay on a topic of such potential significance and excitement as "The Relationship Between Graduate Theological Education and the Worldwide Mission of the Church."
The Christian Mission, A Look Into The Future, R. Pierce Beaver
The Christian Mission, A Look Into The Future, R. Pierce Beaver
Concordia Theological Monthly
The author argues on the basis of a lifetime of experience that the mission of the church demands a return to the proclamation of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and to a reaffirmation of the principle of voluntarism, as distinct from bureaucratic mission strategy.
Reading Programs In Theology: Forms Of Church And Ministry, Erwin L. Lueker
Reading Programs In Theology: Forms Of Church And Ministry, Erwin L. Lueker
Concordia Theological Monthly
The study of the church can begin with almost any point of philosophy or theology. The church is Christology-Christ taking form in the world. The church is anthropology - people growing into the full stature of manhood. The church is sociology-the really beloved community forming as the body of its Lord. The church is wisdom-the pillar and ground of truth. The church is semantics-the Word taking form not in sign or sound but in flesh and blood. The church is eschatology-the little flock which has received, is received, and will receive the Kingdom. The church is family-a mother nourishes her …
Lutheran Social Welfare Work And The Emotionally Disturbed Child, Dennis Pegorsch
Lutheran Social Welfare Work And The Emotionally Disturbed Child, Dennis Pegorsch
Bachelor of Divinity
In: this research paper there will be an examination of the theology and the responsibility of the Lutheran Church in social welfare work and particularly in its mission to emotionally disturbed children.
Although much has been said and written in the area of church and youth, little emphasis has been placed on reexamining the church's concern for emotionally disturbed children. This paper will not deal with juvenile delinquency per se even though there is a very fine distinction between juvenile delinquents and emotionally disturbed children since many juvenile delinquents are emotionally disturbed. But duet the limited amount of materials dealing …

The Development Of The Youth Leadership Training In The Walther League, Samuel J. Roth
The Development Of The Youth Leadership Training In The Walther League, Samuel J. Roth
Bachelor of Divinity
It should be said that this paper does not attempt to give a complete picture of Walther League history. Many projects of great importance to the total League picture, e.g. Bible study, missions, the Hospice department, and the Talent Quest, have been omitted in the interest of focusing attention only on those endeavors which involved leadership training most directly. Moreover, attention is centered chiefly on international activities. To go into district, zone and society projects in great detail would necessitate a much more extensive study. However, frequent samplings of such localized projects are given, in order to keep the picture …

The physical make-up of the schools in terms of housing, teachers, sessions, enrollment and attendance figures have been included. The list of curricular activities will be discussed as well as the use of various teaching aids, such as texts, workbooks and audiovisual aids.

The Pastor And Foreign Missions, A. M. Rehwinkel
The Pastor And Foreign Missions, A. M. Rehwinkel
Concordia Theological Monthly
To evangelize the world was the Great Commission which Jesus gave to His disciples when He took leave of them to return to His Father. To evangelize the world is still the great responsibility of the Church today. The apostles preached first in Jerusalem and Judea but then went down to Samaria and from thence to the great Greco-Roman world beyond. Home Missions, or the evangelization of the unchurched in our community, is our first obligation; but while doing this, we dare not neglect the "Samarias" and the partes infidelium beyond. We have done reasonably well in preaching the Gospel …
