Formulation, Ex-Vivo And In-Vitro Characterization Of Liposomal Drug Delivery System Of Fexofenadine, Safin Shrestha, Uttam Budhathoki
The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
In order to improve the low permeability associated with conventional or immediate release dosage forms such as nasal spray and oral solid dosage form, tablets, fexofenadine liposomes were prepared by using ethanol injection method by varying the concentration of surfactant, (Tween -80), along with crude lecithin and cholesterol. The optimized formulations was evaluated for size, shape, entrapment efficiency and in vitro drug release. In this study the optimized formulated liposomes appeared to be spherical in shape and particle size was found to be 4703.667±445 nm. There is 1.25 times more flux of liposome as compared with free drug. The entrapment …

Nifedipine is one of the calcium channel blockers widely employed in indications such as high blood pressure and angina pectoris. In the present study, a prompt attempt is done in the formulation of gastro retentive sustained-release tablets. The effect of polymers and their combination on release pattern, initial burst release, and floating behavior were studied. Out of four polymers, two polymers such as cellulose derivatives like highly viscous polymer Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) K100, low viscous HPMC K4M and their combinations, and other two polymers used were from natural sources like xantham gum, guar gum and their combinations were studied. Transdermal drug delivery system networks are primarily affected by poor penetration of therapeutically active compounds. The stratum corneum (SC) is the foremost barrier of the skin, which restricts the permeation of the drug molecule. In this context, to date, numerous approaches have been implemented to overcome the SC barrier limitations. Out of this, few advanced approaches including liposomes, niosomes, ethosomes, and transferosomes are majorly used to boost the permeation of drug and cosmetic agents across the SC barrier. Among these vesicles, ethosomes are stand out as the best substitute for topical drug delivery. In a nutshell, ethosomes are the elastic …

The Thai Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Curcumin-loaded liposomes comprising dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine, cholesterol, and dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine (72:8:20 mole ratio) were prepared by the thin-film hydration method, followed by probe sonication to achieve a mean diameter (FSI) pre-cooled at 2–8°C for at least 90 min at 15 L/min. Curcumin recovered from the impactor and nebulizer was quantified using a validated high-performance liquid chromatography method. Overall, 2.5% w/w curcumin-loaded liposomes was the optimal formulation based on the maximum encapsulation efficiency of approximately 87% and mean hydrodynamic diameter of 97 nm. This chosen curcumin concentration was effectively aerosolized with a fine particle fraction of 53.25%, and a fine particle dose of 53 …

Thai Sentence Segmentation Using Large Language Models, Narongkorn Panitsrisit
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Thai sentence segmentation has been on the topic of interest among Thai NLP communities. However, not much literature has explored the use of transformer-based large language models to tackle the issue. We conduct three experiments on the LST20 corpus, including (1) fine-tuning WangchanBERTa, a large language model pre-trained on Thai, across different classification tasks, (2) joint learning for clause and sentence segmentation, and (3) cross-lingual transfer using the multilingual model XLM-RoBERTa. Our findings show that WangchanBERTa outperforms other models in Thai sentence segmentation, and fine-tuning it with token and contextual information further improves its performance. However, cross-lingual transfer from English …

Comparison Of The Inter-Accent Variation Of Articulation Rate Between English And English With Imitated Chinese Accent Speech, Komchit Taweesablamlert
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This paper compares the articulation rate of 2 English speeches with different accents produced by Nigel Ng, a well-known stand-up comedian and youtuber, while he is taking the role of Uncle Roger and while he is not. Taking the role of Uncle Roger, Nigel Ng produces utterances with imitated Chinese accent to underline stereotypical Asian characteristics, and to contrast with his own “neutralish English accent”. The objective is to investigate the variation of articulation rate between 2 accents which are both produced by only one speaker. Based on the analysis of the articulation rate of Nigel Ng’s speeches, it is …

Forecasting Stock Volatility With Neural Network On Time Varying Transition Probability, Wasit Norakarntiansin
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Forecasting volatilities of financial security returns are important for many financial applications e.g., portfolio investment construction, risk management and trading strategy. The GARCH model has long been refined to capture the true dynamic of volatility on a security return. By applying the Markov switching to the GARCH model, the source of the temporary high volatility and high persistence of a shock to the volatility can be captured. In this study, we refine the Markov switching GARCH model further by applying the notion of the neural network to approximate the time varying transition probabilities. We aim to achieve a model that …

The Effect Of Sustainability Index Inclusion On Equity Fund Allocation Evidence From Thailand, Tanakorn Makarabhiromya
The Effect Of Sustainability Index Inclusion On Equity Fund Allocation Evidence From Thailand, Tanakorn Makarabhiromya
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The concept of sustainability index has been accepted widely in the global investment context. However, sustainable investments are relatively underexplored in an emerging market as in Thailand. This study analyzes the relationship between corporate sustainability performance (proxy by announcement events of the Stock Exchange of Thailand Sustainability Index SETTHSI) and institutional investors’ awareness toward sustainability investment. An event studies on index announcement are applied to analyze the short-term effect from investors in stock market. The results indicate that there is only weak evidence that inclusion into the sustainability index has a positive impact to cumulative abnormal returns during release-related period, …
